*My comment on a thread- but I just wanted to re-post for a better discussion.

Honestly the reworked Galio is some what lack luster. I feel with the new kit you have little to do in a team fight. Typically in a team fight your main objective is to go in to catch someone out, with a W or E. You would do an E+W, W+Flash combo, or ult. With the right teammates they would follow up, however this is not always the case. Even though Galio is naturally able to tank lots of damage as any good tank his damage and CC is limited (damage of his passive and Q is a burst and limited).

Aggressive tanks are designed to a threat in their ability to CC. I feel Riot did not originally see to rework Galio as tank to retain the old Galio damage. I felt this way because of how strong Galio originally was in PBE. It confused me because it was Riot's goal to reduce the the damage output of tanks and focus on their CC.

So now we have a Galio designed for damage nerfed into the awkward role of tank. He doesn't just have the threat level to play a role or any role. He can't stick to people as lets say a Vi with the her abilities and types of AD items that give slows. Even if he did nothing would lock down the target long enough. I only played very few games, but often I get IGNORED in a fight. I am just lifesteal for the enemy ADC.

*Design conflicts with his ult- There is too small of niche I feel with his ult. That is my opinion. Opened to hear others because I do not know Galio

I actually think teamfighting is his best stage You can E to catch someone out and quickly follow up with W to taunt 1 or more members then Q and then when your abilities are on CD you have 2 options, ult the diver on your team giving them damage reduction to wreak havoc across the backline of the enemy, or ult your backlne to protect them from divers. When you land your E is off cooldown and rinse and repeat

I think he has plenty of CC with his W and E, which don't have a very high cd, and his ult. I think he brings just as much dmg to the fight as any other tank. Or you can build some AP on him, which is interesting. IMO, he seems similar to Malphite but with more mechanics.

I agree with you about his ult being a niche, but maybe people will eventually find more creative ways to use it.
