What draws you to your favorite champion?

We all have our one truly favorite champion. Whether it's because we have a huge winrate with it, its lore, appearance, abilities or playstyle, we have that one champion we truly love and always come back to. For me, that champion is the one and only Lunari assassin; Diana, the Scorn of the Moon Diana. There are so many things I love about her, and I wonder what draws you to your favorite champion. Things I love about Diana:

  1. Amazing champion motif - warrior of the moon, relentless, cold, bitter
  2. Her lore is, in my eyes, so deep and gives her the motivation and purpose (Embrace the heresy! Down with the Solari!)
  3. Her lore and background reflects perfectly on her playstyle and role. A restless burst assassin that does not rest to punish her enemies.
  4. She looks so squishy due to her not-so-big- health pool but in reality is able to withstand so much punishment (again ,in accordancy with her lore) due to her W and her building path
  5. Her skillset is everything i look for in a champion: low cooldown on her biggest damage dealers, big gapcloser, massive combo potential, has a suprise element, has skills to be able to easier chase down her opponents
  6. beautiful graphics and particles on her abilities
  7. amazing champion appearance, both on her default skin and her Lunar Goddess skin
  8. she is eye-appealing without looking like a damn prostitute (I mean just look at the likes of Ahri MissFortune Nidalee Jinx)
  9. she is just here to ruin your health pool and your day
  10. very strong mid to late game, snowballs off of 2 kills or assists

What is on your list of things that make you love your fav champ?

His simplicity (I'm not very good at the game, sue me) along with the fact that likewise he's not dedicated to a specific cause so he has a lot of flexiblty on choosing sides.

Bard is my favorite.

Love everything about his kit. His entire playstyle enables my favorite old way to play which is heavy roaming. His chime minigame is pretty fun to me. I don't think I need to say much about Magical Journey, best ability in the game. His ultimate feels great to use since it's so flexible.

I enjoy his lore and overall appearance. Love Studio Ghibli stuff so he definitely falls into that style for me. Probably the most underrated part of Bard is his VO, it's a nice change of pace and is pretty relaxing to listen to overall.

Malzhar 1.) his has an awesome voice actor 2.) had a pet so I don't have to fight alone 3.) has dot 4.) loves what he wants to accomplish in his lore

Velkoz lasers, true damage, and his dry GLaDOS-like personality. Arclight Vel'Koz is really pretty too (and has a deeper voice) Bard I basically get to be a Totoro. Has incredible utility. Also great music. It really sets a pleasant mood and chime collecting is soothing even when my team is losing.

For me it's Sion

It's his personality which i love

Ive also grown so familiar with his kit i almost never miss any skillshots with him allowing me to CRUSH my opponents when i play him ^^

Bard.

  1. I love his concept as the Interdimensional, mystical caretaker
  2. I love being a support that gets to help out each lane and not feel like I am glued to my ADC for 40 mins.
  3. The satisfaction of pulling off a perfect Bard ult. I FEEL LIKE GOD.
  4. His VO and Laugh. Its so peaceful and happy. (And honestly Im so used to it that playing another champ seems weird because all the ambient sounds are gone)

Singed Just almost everything about him is so damn fun to play as. Do you want to be annoying, do you want too outrun every champion and kite them to death, do you want to just ruins the ADC's day by flipping that booty into your team. If you answered to yes to any of these questions then Singed is the champion for you. I love his skins they are arguably some of the best designed in the game. His laugh especially with his flip spell is so much fun to hear and spam. I love to proxy waves and just gather everybody on the enemy team and kite them to death. IDGAF if people want to call him a running simulator this guy is so much fun and I love to cheese in game and this guy is cheese incarnate. So many ways to build him full AP, full tank, AP bruiser, full movement speed, this guy is fun for alot of them. Of all the things I love about Singed its his passive is just downright useless and IMO could be changed. Also Riot please make BeeKeeper Singed skin please!

Atm, i'm torn between a few champs.

Braum because of his heroic personality, kit, lore, and that cool shield.

Lulu due to her whimsical VO, her Dragon skin, the fun of her abilities, love her playful lore, plus her dance is hysterical.

Karma due to Warden skin, her peaceful protector lore, and her abilities. (the other skins i'm not found of).

And finally.....

Syndra just because of her skins, her VO, the power hungry lore, the interesting ability set up, plus i do quite well as support with her (though i do well with Braum, Lulu, and Karma too).

Renekton I am generally attracted to berserkers in most games.

He's a tyrant, his lane prescence is practically unmatched - and yet in most game others grow stronger than him by the end.

It forces you to use your positioning and abilities well, or you will lose the game. Period.

His theme is also great, being a mad butcher. I have a lot of fun playing him in any role except ADC.

Nami Despite her being a mermaid, she has one of the most normal and relatable personalities in the game. I imagine that if her story were to be translated into human terms, I feel like she would be an average high schooler that one day gets abducted by aliens and through her own personal courage and how events play out, she ends up saving the human race from an alien menace.... If that makes sense.

Gameplay wise, I like her well rounded kit and how she's capable of being offensive or defensive. She's a fun champion to use, and if you get really good with her then you can pull off really impressive plays that flow together in a much more beautiful way than the more mechanically easy Thresh or Leona do.

Lucian A lore that is just so incredibly fun to look at, think about, theorize about. Just, OMG :0 Also, having such consistent damage output and being able to constantly maneuver around fights is so much.

The ultimate. For Pantheon it was the ability to come down from the sky and ruin someone's day.

For Sion, his ultimate and passive. I've recently discovered I like engage, which explains my love of Sion. But his passive felt like why I loved Olaf. I used to be very leeroy like in games, and champions that rewarded it helped me.

I enjoy the concept of, "fuck it, I'm cutting loose" that comes from champions like Sion and Olaf.

Darius

Extremely visceral in his execution and playstyle. He's simple but nuanced and has a grossly satisfying moment of power when he executes with his ult, or comes back from the brink of death with a well placed Q, or gets five stacks and the screen turns red

Bard

Similarly enjoyable, simple but complex and with a lot of fun moments. He scales with his chimes so I can afford to roam, he offers a lot of versatility without being oppressive, and his ult has this very "big moment" feeling that makes it super pleasing to use well

Fun on a Bun1 votes

Jinx has literally been my favorite champion since the very beginning. She was the most fun for me to play as a newbie when she was available as a starter champion, and she's been my favorite ever since. Her ult always makes me feel amazing when I execute with it and landing zaps to finish off a kill is also just so rewarding. Also I love her personality (and music video of course) [slayer-jinx-catface]

ltmetal1 votes

Diana is by far my favorite champion. Surprisingly, there is only one overarching trait that really got me to stick with her: her engage potential. Diana's play pattern boils down to dashing onto her target until she gets the kill or dies trying. Lightning fast dashes every six seconds, AoE pull that gives enemies no chance to escape, a shield that doubles in value when remaining in melee range, a lack of escapes and minor poke damage that requires a commitment to an all-in...I could go on, but I would just be continuing to describe more things that fit into an engage profile. Plus, call me a sucker, but I really like her jokes.

Leadpaintchips1 votes

My favorites are the skins of DrMundo (corporate) and Olaf Brolaf. the humor they bring is what really attracted me to league.

the goofniess combined with (what was) a really edgy lore beneath it, was just fun to me.

Stellafreyja1 votes

Elise was the first champion that caught my eye when I started playing League and I guess I could say she's my favorite.

Honestly, it's Elise's aesthetic that drew me in. I love creepy things a lot and the idea of turning into a giant spider is amazing. I also love her splash art because of the whole sitting on a throne thing. I love the cocky/arrogant "Queen" types.

Its been over a year but since i started i always played Garen. It wasnt his simplicity but his theme as the ultimate soldier upholding all the virtues his home values that attracted me. I've always been a bit of an idealist so he just fit perfectly. Ive also enjoyed destroying people even before the rework (i think people hated him more back then but his carry potential waa lower) I did face a moment of crisis back in 5.16 when he was reworked. I played mostly ranked games and he was always banned. I began playing other champs, ashe braum lux trundle sion malphite big titty fortune karthus gragas and ive liked them all quickly became good at them but i calmed down and went back to my roots and am now better than ever with garen.

  1. mostly point-and-click, missing skillshots = not the end of the world
  2. no need to memorize combos or having to mash buttons in a certain order
  3. can hide in the backlines, no need to even engage
  4. you get to be annoying to the enemy team
  5. can build anything you want
  6. I'm a lazy person and don't like last hitting, okay to go botlane
  7. can fit anywhere into almost every comp
  8. get to feel like a hipster in today's meta

Lulu support is so much fun.

Shaco Highly skill indexed, and isn't a one trick pony; I have multiple options of using my skills. I can use W to cut their escape off, give me an escape, serve as a pseudo-ward when split pushing,...I can use Q to escape, to go in, to juke, to take a shortcut,...

Lastly, he gives interaction and outplay potential. His theme and kit mesh well, and he has just an epic gameplay pattern. On top of this, his lore and style just rock.

Shrek Luigi1 votes

Graves is my current favourite. His entire kit can be used in one skill rotation, which can add up to some pretty insane burst damage once you've invested in enough AD.

His interaction with a lot of AA-based items are pretty fun, too. Statikk Shiv adds a huge amount of up-front collateral damage to Graves' AOE burst. Runaan's adds more projectiles to your shotgun and can allow you to tag people with two AA procs at once or tag an entire team with GW if you opted for Mortal Reminder . Rapidfire Cannon procs Shiv and allows Graves to overcome the otherwise huge setback of having a low AA range compared to other ADCs. Graves has some of the greatest potential for build-diversity of any ADC--he can even run with tank items like DMP later on and still be a bigger damage-threat than the enemy ADC by the time endgame rolls in.

Finally, he's a lot more safe of a champion than many people's first impressions of him. Possible outcomes are generally making beautiful trades or, if things get sticky, hopping back--with his two dashes and a flash--and going about his business elsewhere. He is suprisingly agile and the potential for making jaw-dropping plays are in abundance.

High win rate Really good at poking and getting away with it at every possible opportunity Good enough at not dying when tunneled that the enemies can't just kill me that way Good team fighter Intuitive enough for me to try to play Forces me to think in ways that'll make me good at the game

Zyra Probably Zyra since I've played her the most in ranked.

  1. Sexy
  2. High Winrate
  3. Relaxed Playstyle
  4. Zone Control
  5. High CC
  6. High Damage
  7. High Poke
  8. Respectable Burst
  9. Good Waveclear
  10. Role Flexibility

She's an all around solid champion that can do basically anything. Her only weaknesses are low mobility, low defensive stats, and bad hard engage. All of which I can deal with.

Leblanc Shaco

I love these two champs though.

  1. Both are super sexy.
  2. Mobility
  3. Deception
  4. High Skillcap
  5. Few Skillshots, Very Reliable

Fiora

  1. I'm always learning things while playing her(I often become bored of champions because the game-play becomes stale
  2. She has a very flexible playstyle where you can play risky and get rewarded/punished for your actions, but you can also play a very laid back game.
  3. She is a master duelist, i just find this absolutely enthralling.
  4. I am inclined to say our personalities are pretty complimentary so I feel a connection with her on a basal level.

Nautilus has been my favorite champion for at least a couple years now (keep in mind I only started in Season 3). Back when I first started the game I aimed more to play whatever champions were on free week. Eventually I started buying some of the champions I enjoyed the most, and Nautilus was one of them.

And once I started playing most of the champions I had Nautilus was one of those champions that just clicked. I remember one game when I literally snowballed the game just from getting hook after hook, where my team was pushing bot lane outer turret all the way to the inhibitor, getting around 10 kills in succession in the process while one of our solo laners was pushing the mid lane from the inner turret to the inhibitor. I basically turned the game from dead even into forcing a surrender from the enemy team in the span of about five minutes. That was the game when I realized how satisfying it is to play Nautilus well.

Since then I could always count on being able to play Nautilus well for how decent I am at the game. He wasn't the first jungler I learned, but he was the one I learned best, and the one I always relied on to get me through transition periods. He was the one I had to relearn the jungle in seasons 4 and 5, and was the one that I relied on to finish my placements in Silver II this past season after never having played much ranked before. I personally value playstyle and other gameplay elements a lot with my character choice, and Nautilus fit perfectly on all accounts.

Viktor His lore is extremely interesting to me, as with his personality. In addition, kha was my first champ, and i loved him because of the evolution mechanic. Not just because options, since its basically E Q or Q E now, but I FELT more powerful no matter the case. Viktor provides that through his passive without the necessity for High Speed Big Plays, and provides, imo, more teamfight presence. And finally, the Death Ray. This thing makes me feel satisfied at every landing of it, especially augmented. Overall, he feels both unique and satisfying.

I have always loved Snipers. I played Snipers as long as I could remember, and I was drawn to her because her range and her ult. I love her kit, hammering enemies from a long range if they choose to take the direct approach through traps. Her headshot does major damage if the enemies spring a trap, and her ult is so satisfing. Everything about Caitlyn makes me excited to play her again.

Ironclad Dragon1 votes

Sion First off, I'm prefer characters who lean toward durable. I mean, dealing tons of damage is nice, but I like to have as large a margin of error as possible in case of setbacks or mistakes. Second, reading the development notes of Sion's rework drew me into his new character, and there was something in the story telling and aesthetics that hooked me in. Third, despite what I said earlier, I can actually deal respectable damage while also tanking. I want to deal damage and survive, even at the cost of speed. Fourth, his abilities just feel right. Can't explain it, but I think everyone clicks with a certain champion.

The Parallax II1 votes

Swain Because he is so underrated. Been maining him since his release, I just love his playstyle. I'm a big fan of damage over time spells, and Swain does just that. Gangplank The best rework Riot has done, if only they made Captain Gangplank the default skin, that would be perfect. (I dislike the "murdering" of gp thing, and really hate the current default skin) Shaco My first ever jungler, and still my personal favorite. If you know what you're doing, you can do a lot with Shaco. Taric Taric Top is very close to my heart. It brings me such joy going against Riven and murdering her. 40% CDR Gem Knight is a force to be reckoned with.

Some champions I loved unfortunately got changed for the worse ("worse" as in, not fitting my playstyle anymore), like AP Maokai whom I loved to play in mid, Quinn RIP assassin bird mode.

Dairdrek1 votes

Varus. Varus is my favorite. Technically he was my first champ, but I actually played kog maw a year earlier when I had first tried league ( and at the time hated it because of the community and map) but at the very start of season five I joined league for real, and I just randomly picked a champion to play, and got Varus. Loved him from the start, his lore is my favorite on game, his voice overs are great, I love his abilities, and all his skins ( except heart seeker) are awesome, including classic. There's just something satisfying about locking down an entire enemy team with one spell, then sniping the squishy from a mile away while your team engages.

It has to be Maokai. When I started playing league of legends I played all the flashy champions Vayne Yasuo Leblanc and after awhile they just became too easy like its super easy to rack up insane amount of kills with these champs and snowball. Maokai though is not flashy. I know you may say hes a tank and all, but he does take skill. You have to know how to play Maokai in the laning phase and its nice to know at the end of the game I have the same amount of cs as the yasuo even though Maokai farming is not that easy. I hated top lane too played gnar for awhile liked him but he was a super safe pick boring Maokai is not hes gotta be in their face. I even like the way he says I do your bidding for now. Damn dude im gay for a tree.
