Is it time to give some power back to Malzahar?

Over the last couple of patches, Malzahar was nerfed several times, while those nerfs were pretty severe. They weren't nerfs to the mana costs and CDs as we usually see to other dominant picks, but to damage ratios, which turned Malz from a AP carry into a stun bot.

I remember in one of the patch notes, where his ult was nerfed it said "Malz should need more than just his ult to kill an opponent". Are you guys even playing this game? If you ulted somebody naked (without E and no W), you were just wasting your ult, doing 20% of the enemy's HP at best and stunning yourself for 2,5 seconds.. It's the voidlings that kill the ulted target, not the ult itself.

Anyway, with the recent nerfs, I feel Malzahar has lost a lot of its "oomph", while his clear weakneses are still present. He is immobile short range mage (both his spells and his autos), his E now draws minion aggro, his early laning is garbage as it always was but now his mid and late game are that much weaker. The new items haven't exactly helped either, as Luden's doesnt really fit his playstyle, GLP without HP is redundant, as you have Rylais as the core kiting and slowing item and Archangels, while great, takes too long to come online in a world where games are often decided at minute 15. Not to mention a QSS exists in the game, which every player with a brain purchases against him - if you can't hold a target down for your voidlings, you aren't killing anyone.

Some sort of compensation buffs to his ratios - particulary R would be helpful, so his bad early game is properly balanced with his late game.

Also - point of discussion - is it time to talk about his voidlings? I'm not really a huge fan of his state that you are a basically a CC bot for your pets, so they can kill the target. Removing voidlings completely and just focusing on the Malzahar himself, funneling power into him in some other way - a new spell perhaps, is in my opinion the way to go. I wouldn't really mind the return of his Null Zone as his W, while the damage from his voidlings could be redistributed into his kit.

Voidlings aren't really the first thing that comes into people's minds when you talk about Malzahar - it is usually his Nether Grasps, his Malefic Visions ("Space aids") or his eternal silences and CC, so it's not like we are removing his iconic ability.

Anyway, some food for thought.

Look dude , his ult must be reworked , his other abilities are strong , and the silence is crazy , but the most annoying thing is his ult , just ult anyone and make it a 5 vs 4 fight and here it's an easy win his ult gives no counter play at all , ignoring the silence on a mage , I hate how it only takes to press R to kill me.

Malzahar has infinite damage potential with E resets while having safety (shield) at the same time.

He will not be getting buffs anytime soon, especially with Liandry's there to boost his damage by 10%

New Malzahar has been around for too long and now people do not even remember what old Malzahar was like.

All iterations of Malzahar have had their reputations muddied by both New Malzahar and Pseudo-revert Malzahar.

Prior to his rework in the MYMU, he was a 52-54% Win Rate champion with around 3-4% Play Rate.

No one really complained about him back then and if they did, they would always get the same responses:

Get Maw to stop his burst.

Get QSS, so he doesn't even bother ulting you.

Have your jungler camp your lane because he auto pushes.

Delay CC if you have a skillshot like Annie's Q or Kassadin's Q so that his Ult will insta cancel.

Today, due to the recent Malzahar that was toxic as fuck with Voidling spam and Shield, he is absolutely hated because they added toxic shit to his kit while making it similar (too similar) to his old kit.

This makes it so that when people say "Old Malzahar was even more toxic than current Malzahar/He was reworked for a reason" people will believe it, because they think they know what old Malzahar is like through this close-enough-to-previous-kit Malzahar.

Even in his nerfed state, there are people on the boards calling for more nerfs... And people are agreeing as well.

I've waited a long time and even I have to admit...

He is done for bro.

He like shen are kept weak solely because of their ult, until that is changed they will remain in a weakend state

I remember a time when Voidlings were iconic; ever seen AD Malz push down a whole lane with his old passive? Or how he could jungle once upon a time thanks to them tanking for him?

Right now, however, they are extremely bad, mostly because they die to anything before they actually deal damage. I would gladly take a longer cooldown and possibly having the spawning effect moved to Malefic Visions for more durability against champions.

His power was shifted from his damage to his utility. He was too strong when he had both in spades. I personally think Malz is balanced right now and needs to be left alone.

No.

Obviously, his win ratio has plummeted. So HE DOES need a buff.

His voidlings are part of his identity. They need to scale better as he levels up to make them more useful. Give them more HP each level up.

Malz himself has horrible scaling now. His early game sucks. His mid game is fair, and his late game is total garbage. Any late game ADC destroys him in 1 sec, even with the ult because he can't kill the ADC anymore... he's NOT an assassin anymore. He's just a lane pushing squishy.
