Killing units with damage that is 1 point lower than its hp?

So I was playing League today I was on Ezreal bot lane and I was hitting a caster minion and the minion had 124 hp and I hit it for 123 (shown on screen) and I killed it. I also remembered that the same thing happened to Pobelter during one of his streams (first clip in the youtube video embedded) where he had 44hp on Jax and a 43 damage W from Lucian killed him.

Anybody else encountered this? Is this intended?

It could be an issue of rounding. You did 143.4 damage and it had 143.6 health. This left it with .2 health which rounds down to 0. Just a guess.

This is my guess too.

Yeah they've done that for awhile now. I assume it is to help with people who have lots of lag - give them benefit of the doubt. That's where you look in post-game chat and see "crits" for like 48 or 51 when you never built any crit.

It may or may not be the reason for a particular death (the rounding issue mentioned by others seems more likely), but there are lots of things in league that, while meant to do 0 damage, actually do 1 true damage.

For example, you take 1 true damage if you're in the middle of Veigar's cage. That's to ensure that he gets an assist for trapping you, even if he does no other damage. Various other things will likewise do 1 true damage to ensure that assists are properly credited, but could end up killing you if you ended up actually on 1hp.

for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQABBjPnxwE

it was because of the item 2139 25 true damage
