Balancing around "feelings" is never a good idea

Many people on this board agree that ADCs are quite overtuned at the moment and that is mainly due to the fact that they as a class got buffed, while their counters got nerfed, either individually or as a class.

The question is, what lead up to all this? Why did ADCs get better while everything else got worse? Because whenever an Assassin was powerful, people would complain. It wasn't fun to see Talon /Zed /Akali kill you in one rotation after they got fed through roaming and killing their enemy laner. It wasn't fun to have Sejuani /Nautilus /Zac take your damage and lock you down for their team to kill you. So they went to the boards, the subreddits, twitter. And they complained about how it wasn't fun. So Riot, with the best intentions in their hearts, nerfed the counters and gave counter build opportunities to ADCs, so they could have more fun. This just ended up making it so Tanks and Assassins could no longer do their job. Hell a late game ADC could arguably do the Assassin's job better, with their massive attack speed and crit damage. All because they didn't like facing their natural counters.

And so now we are back to the complaining, but against ADCs this time. Bruisers, Divers, Assassins, Tanks, all of them complaining about how it does not feel good to face an ADC. I say the best way to fix the problem, is taking down ADCs damage. I fully understand why survivability items are wanted and needed for ADCs, but they should not have access to upwards of 25% damage reduction, massive shields, massive heals, and insane life steal potential, all while being able to do 700-1000 damage per auto late game. Make it so they do damage, but steady and low increments of it. This gives Assassins a good chance to actually kill them, and gives Tanks the ability to actually tank damage.

TL:DR: If an ADC is alone and gets jumped on by an Assassin, they should die. Abusing item 3812 and hitting two autos that delete the Assassin isn't an outplay, nor is it rewarding proper play. Tanks should not die after 2 seconds of consistent focusing from an ADC. They should be able to absorb that damage and use their CC to help the team.

No, you are wrong. There is a reason adcs are squishies. you just want to have a fair fight against a late game carry.. No.

Assassins , do your job early game . Assassisns are supposed to get in and then get out, so if you are not happy with adc killing them.... then who will? A mage that can't even target an assassin because of high mobility? / Good luck bro.

its not just that their counters got nerfed, but also that their items got directly buffed. so did the support itemization that makes them more tanky overall.

there are a lot of factors that come together that make marksmen op. theyre much much safer than they used to be while scaling faster into midgame, and even harder into lategame.

for example, building item 3026 as third item now is entirely feasable due to how it doesnt delay their damage spikes anymore.

if they want to remain as safe as they are, they need to lose a significant portion of their damage. if they want to deal damage like thyre doing now, they need to be less safe than even before the tank update.

there needs to be some sort of tradeoff. either theyre squishy glass cannons, or theyre safe to play and dont carry like theyre doing now. they cant have both.

Fun fact Tanks don't die instantly by being focused be an ADC or even after 2 seconds. It takes more then 10+ seconds to kill a tank with an ADC in a typical game around mid game towards lategame it still takes at minimum 5 seconds. While only case where tanks die in after 2 seconds is against Rageblade (With rageblade fully stacked) Kog'maw with Bork and wit's end and being focused by an entire team. Coming from someone who plays both Tanks and ADC role.

So why don't I see statistics and other evidence being referenced more often on this board? "Feelings" and hyperbolic anecdotal evidence go hand in hand, but it seems Gameplay can't get enough of it.

I make a post referencing the low usage of item 3812 among ADCs. What do I get in response? A fair share of downvotes, some upvotes, and not much discussion. It's honestly really discouraging.

In the end, it's not like anything can be done. If people want to come here to complain and hear their complaints reciprocated, they're going to do that. If anyone actually comes here to have meaningful discussion that might improve their game knowledge, good for them. But the former is what dominates here.

Nowadays the only way I kill adcs in 1v1s is if I'm (A) playing select certain champions tbat can still fight them, or if (B) they don't fight back.

I feel this lies into the bigger over all problem.

It's time for class dependent items and for riot to make it very clear what class a character is. The problem with adcs is they naturally share items with assasins. You can't nerf them without nerfing assassins, you can't buff them without buffing assassins.

It's honestly time we fix this by fully removing their ability to share items, Once we do this we can buff and nerf the classes more easily without harming or helping the other.
