Do you sometimes think Riot's ranked system is intentionally holding you back from climbing?

**Discalimer: **Just a short Ranked rant.

Sometimes I'll get amazing teams, be playing my best with them and climbing like no tomorrow and then I just a run into a rut of every single team on my side rather afking, feeding early, not listening, not caring, just trash players over and over until my LP is at 0 and then I start getting the players that actually want to play ranked and improve. It just feels like Riot doesn't want me to climb so they throw me all the toxic players. Anyone else have this experience? Has it always been this way? Not really anything I'm demanding to change but I want to know if I'm not alone on this.

You're not alone, a lot of people think that Riot intentionally throws them "bad teams" to hold them back. The sad truth is, Riot doesn't care, you aren't a unique and beautiful snow flake to them. Ranked is done by an algorithm, it's unbiased math that put you with that team, not any person.

It certainly felt that way. It was easy getting from bronze 5 to bronze 3, but as soon as I did I got really bad teammates and went back to B4, then it was easy to get back to B3.

Lets see what happens now.

It's not something people will really agree with, but if you can't carry games as a support you probably belong in the elo your in.

in lower elo's people have crappy farm meaning a support can snipe a ton of kills roaming and gathering more as he/she goes. They are the like a boss player if you will in the sense that they make sure what needs to happen happens pre knowledge of the jungle as well.

It's not exactly a carrying lane to say, but it's alot more rewarding Even though many bot lanes are duo'd. Your ability lies in map pressure as well as being able to counter what could be a bronze vs diamond mid. They ay have a katarina, but you can go braum and deny that ult, they may have a lux destroying your poor yasuo, but you can blitz snipe them silencing well letting yasuo ult.

The supports offer alot of learning curves from warding to using a shield at just the right time, It's a truly despised pick about as much as people hate teemo. but It's just something to consider.

After every win streak you get a bad team / trolls / feeders / flamers ... so ..

I completely disagree. I got out of bronze and I'm almost out of silver. Riot isn't preventing me from climbing at all.

You're describing winning and losing sprees. Since losing sprees hurt more, they just stick in the mind more clearly. But it's your winning sprees that get you up a rank and then you forget about it soon.

However, Riot IS holding you back from climbing ranked. Just think about it. You have a ranked system that gives everybody a rank. And then you have matches that don't put you against people in the same rank. I can understand if you're in a group and it takes the average rank. But if you're Silver I and solo, you should be in a match with 9 other Silver I players ideally. Yet Riot decides to put you in games based off MMR which is basically just kicking you in the dick for doing good previously and making it harder to rank up. Why even have a rank system if you're not going to match people by rank

Nope, there's no intentional holding back, you're just running into something called the law of averages. Unless you are -that- good that you can single-handedly carry games(and therefor belong in a far higher division than you're currently placed... ie: A master/challenge tier player on a smurf) you're going to eventually get the teammates who aren't as great or helpful as the ones you had been getting.

Started the season at B4 due to poor placements, 100 games later I'm S3 and still climbing.

The trick, OP, is to take people from those awesome teams that you occasionally get, that you work really well with and create a makeshift ranked team whenever they're on.

I've been doing this since placements, got lucky finding some great teammates with great attitudes and we've all been climbing together ever since.
