First pick... sigh... always countered

Getting first pick is awful (and I always seem to get it), im almost always top/mid so I just get counter picked by the enemy team. What can be done!??

Pick a flex pick, or use your pick to grab something high-priority for your team, and then trade for your pick later.

That is annoying but once you truly master a champion fighting a counter shouldn't be that big of a problem.

Never really had a problem probably because I'm skilled in all situations.

pick something people will assume is a different role or can't really be sure about. Kennen could be either of your roles, or are you going adc? JarvanIV will probably be assumed to be in the jungle, and plenty of ADC champions can go mid or top such as Ezreal mid or Vayne top. Graves could be going practically anywhere right now, and Jayce can also take either of your roles.
