Silver versus... a plat?

Recently I had a match in ranked with my friends were we were placed against a quite unfair match up.

(Look at the varus match)

I understand that my team had a couple golds but we still had silvers me being one of them and my friend who almost dropped into bronze again.

Now i'm not gonna complain that much since we won, but it was marginal at times. Why is this fair? I understand you can play against someone a division higher than you but, why did two of us have to play against someone TWO divisions higher?

according to op.gg, that plat player has extremely low mmr. It looks to me like he was boosted in all honestly. Looking at his match history, almost every game with rek'sai, flash is on F and he does really well. Basically every other game he plays different champs, flash is on D, and he feeds his ass off. I wonder if it's enough grounds to submit a ticket to riot as suspicion of account sharing?

You have a gold 1 player on your team, which is essentially considered the same as a plat 5. and if you look the plat player had done very little damage and had a bad kda, therefore he is doing something wrong and has probably begun to lose mmr as a result.

I think its also safe to say he was probably duo with ANY of his gold 5 allies? I'm not sure if you can check this anymore but you said yourself you were que'd with friends? I thought the system would often put pairs of friends against another pair of friends...

I just saw that your gold 1 was "laning" (jungling) against the plat 1. therefore the matchup is much more even? :)

just my thoughts on your complaint. while initially it seems like you have found an imbalance in rito's mmr algorithm, I can see how this could be considered a fair matchup.

The match making is based on MMR not on divisions. I've played this season with and against Diamonds who were all boosted from bronze/silver.
