A cool nami buff idea

Celestial Lion12··95 votes·2,657 views

Disclaimer: nami doesn't need buffs right now but if in the future she does here is a cool idea i have.

I feel like it'd be a cool idea if namis tidal wave really captured the destructive force of a tsunami by destroying any enemy champion made traps/ structures/ minefields etc. so it would destroy things like teemo shrooms yasuo windwall jayce acceleration gate ziggs minefield or even wash away something like cass miasma. this obviously has its flaws but i feel like it would add some skill expression to Nami and add versatility to her ult outside of hit as many enemies possible. of course this just kind of an idea i had to have nami live up to her lore as the tidecaller, and i'm not saying riot should implement it but its just a cool idea for bringing out namis lore.

i think the idea is cool... +1

but the geologist in me wants to point out that a "tidal wave" is NOT a tsunami. and practically every person on the planet uses the term wrong.. its actually quite self explanatory. its a normal beach wave... caused by the tidal pull of the moon. aka a "tidal wave"

Celestial Lion127 votes

awesome thanks for the lesson bro ill keep that in mind while using the term

RainbowIcee1 votes

so you're saying it should flood the area making sea creatures move faster and others slower?

Altiverse2 votes

But she's called [tsu]Nami for a reason :< ######(Shh don't give me a lesson in Japanese, I'm enough weeb as it is.)

Nami means wave tho

Fun fact, when I was in elementary school I needed to say tsunami for the first time and pronounced it "tuh-soon-ah-me". It was embarrassing but also pretty funny considering I was 8 years old.

Should get taller as it travels too, would make it clear that it gets stronger the further it goes

50000000000000001 votes

Does it get stronger?

SociopathFriend9 votes

The knock-up gets longer and so does the slow.

Bladerunner77772 votes

The knock-up time is static, only the slow's length increases.

This would actually be an interesting addition to the champion. I always felt like Nami was quite plain support without many niches. Her ultimate is simply a wide slow moving bump that doesn't feel extremely core to her identity. The idea of a tsunami obviously is a huge part of her identity but the actual effects of the ult really doesn't give justice to her. A long range slow? Meh. Although I like the speed boost it gives to allies.

Making the ult feel like a purifying wave that washes off harm is an awesome idea!

DarkKatalyst2 votes

On one hand I agree that her ult is a bit "meh" because I want my main to have more power, but on the other hand, I think Nami is perfectly fine the way she is. Her ult is the most support-like ability ever, and that's a good thing. It gives a nice boost for engaging, slows + knocks up enemies, and also helps a lot in escapes. It's definitely core on her identity since most of Nami's kit is about enhancing or slowing movement, despite many people seeing her for only her heals. Adding extra things like clearing terrain objects or purifying detracts from her identity.

I think Nami is a perfect balance between movement effects and healing.

Nami is the generalist enchanter. She has a little bit of everything but excels in nothing.

Lulu for example is probably the most buff-based enchanter: movement speed, attack speed, shield, and extra damage on AAs- and then a possible bonus HP + AoE slow- not to mention she can fire a damaging slow herself through her ally to help keep enemies close.

Nami has half of that. She gives movement speed, can heal, and can give a slowing AA damage buff. However, Nami also has two hard CC abilities and the movement speed is EVERYWHERE instead of just one ability.

Yasuos wall and braums shield thing literally block it I doubt they would change it (wish they would) cute idea tho

I hate that damn windwall and Braum's unbreakable. So annoying when I play Nami/Sona/MF

same i honestly think yasuos windwall is broken af but last time i said it every1 gets pissed LOL i just ban him if i ever go mid everytime

He's common enough for you to learn to play against him. I'm more of a blind pick player but if I had to choose I'd get rid of Blitz, Lb or Zed

Ya I like blind pick lately so I can actually play Janna

Oh, I haven't realized that Janna's been banned often o.o

Omg ya tons They are apparently nerfing her next patch though So probably will not be banned as much after it

Yeah. Took them long enough xD

Yasuo's Windwall (among other things) was the biggest circlejerk here on the Boards for the longest time. "every1 gets pissed" what?

LordGeovanni1 votes

I wish braum was actualy tanky enough so that he doesnt get chunked even when using unbreakable beyond just the first damage instance. also Yasou's windwall can block from both sides but braums unbreakable only blocks from the front...... Rito clarity

LordGeovanni1 votes

maybe windwall and nami ult would cancel each other out

Drugoth5 votes

Indeed, giving Nami ult the capability of clearing stuff like Cassiopea miasma or Morganas tormented soil would be a sweet addition!

I actually really like this idea. It's not something really big and ultimately game changing but it's a smallish detail that could save someone's life at some point in the game [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

ChuShoe3 votes

Nah dude, you know how you said nami doesn't need buffs right now? I guarantee someone will get extremely angry over the idea of a "buff" for any kind of support that can provide sustain right now.

Nami main approves <3*[slayer-jinx-catface]* [sg-lux]

Man Yasuo windwall beats everything. It's like a game of rock paper scissors, except windwall beats everything .

Swarovsko2 votes

Honestly I'm living for this. Whenever I use her ult I don't feel powerful, I don't feel the strength of water. Elementalist Lux's R in water form gives me a better feeling of "destructive water stream" but Nami's R just fails to make me feel like I'm playing the tidecaller.

Friendly Ram2 votes

i'd just love if they allowed her w to double proc spellthiefs again. i really loved when that was possible.

DarkKatalyst2 votes

Why change anything on champion that is already so balanced? In my opinion, Nami is like a role model in that regard.

Celestial Lion121 votes

Again i added a disclaimer that she doesent need buffs and this was more of an idea to add some of her lore elements into the game

DarkKatalyst1 votes

If Nami were to ever get buffs, it would just be a stat tweak. Your idea somewhat changes Nami more than it buffs, and sets a weird precedent for the game. If we start taking real things into account like tidal waves washing away items, then what about literally every other destructive ability that affects the ground in the game? Does Janna's tornado get the same treatment? What about Taliyah's kit? Braum's ult? Anivia's ult? The list goes on and on.

Ok sure but why1 votes

Better than putting it on ornn's basic ability

Ornn can't clear anything besides terrain?

Ok sure but why1 votes

I'm saying Ornn makes it look like garbage

#No.

The entire post was not about the ability to destroy terrain. In fact the OP never even uses the word terrain. They say it'd be cool if Nami's ult cleared traps, structures, and minefields.

Then the OP went out and listed a bunch of NON terrain things Nami ult could clear.

Did you read the entire post?

Ok sure but why1 votes

Oh, so you did read it after all!

Then when I say it, why don't you use your brain and assume "it" meant the actual topic? Hm?

Arakadia1 votes

Because "it" wasn't the actual topic.

Arakadia1 votes

This nami buff has nothing to do with terrain destruction though?

SpecterVonBaren1 votes

I feel like it'd be a cool idea if namis tidal wave really captured the destructive force of a tsunami by destroying any enemy champion made traps/** structures**/ minefields etc.

I assume this is what JZ is seeing to mean champion created terrain.

Arakadia1 votes

I didn't really think of structures as terrain but I it clearly could be seen that way.
