Can a Blitzcrank ultimate cancel out Morgana's Black Shield?

I just played a game as Morgana against a Blitzcrank. After a play where I thought I had cast Black Shield before his ult (it didn't go on CD so I must have mis-timed it), the Blitz player claimed that his ultimate cancels (effectively negates) Morgana's Black Shield. From my knowledge, having mained Morgana for several seasons now, a Blitz ultimate would just deal enough magic damage to overcome the shield. Has anyone seen a Blitz ultimate eliminate a Morgana Black Shield without overcoming the damage threshold?

No it has to break the shield itself then it can allow other skills to do effects.

It just breaks it normally like any ability does

Blitz R is Magic damage.

It should do enough damage to break the shield as the numbers on his ultimate are bonkers.
