@Riot: How far can you take Projectile-Canceling?

Dear Rito Tribe,

So I like Yasuo & Braum and I believe their Wind Wall & Unbreakable are interesting mechanics. Recently I thought about a version of the ability that was nearly instantaneous, like it would be gone in approx. 0.25 seconds instead of the 3-4 seconds of the current abilities, and PBAoE. Essentially a more twitchy version of Wind Wall or like Spell Shield that has a (limited) capacity to block more at once. This made me think about The current abilities' power budget and how much more you could add by reducing the duration. I didn't have the think about it long to realize that CD would probably be a bad place to start. Even if it stayed directional with a significantly shorter duration, a low CD Wind Wall would still nullify any major single-shot projectile (and there are a lot). It might be weak to barrage-type projectiles (MF, Corki), but the power budget of big single hit skill shots is as least partially balanced around their CD. You probably couldn't do it via size either, since if it were PBAoE you could nullify a lot of damage at a disproportional cost (i.e. practically no cost). I see how you dealt with it in Braum by capping width and adding mobility while only partially reducing incoming damage.

I guess my questions are what are the other ways you've thought about implementing a projectile blocking effect and how do you think a short, twitchy version of wind wall would work (good/bad)?

Don't forget that, while it doesn't block the projectile, mechanics like Fizz's hop makes him briefly untargetable, and so any projectiles would move through him/bilnk out of existence if they're targeted. While this is different than the blocking mechanic, I think it fulfills the same idea of a reflexive, short-window ability that nullifies an enemy's attack towards you. The Walls are more team-based since they completely destroy the projectile but if you're thinking of something that short duration, it wouldn't be very effective to help teammates (since you'd have to be in position for the spell before the attack even started)
