So what's up with the new "Essence Reaver" not having lifesteal!?

It's name suggest that it is stealing essence, or in other words. Life Steal.

reave rēv/Submit verbarchaic verb: reave; 3rd person present: reaves; past tense: reft; past participle: reft; gerund or present participle: reaving carry out raids in order to plunder. rob (a person or place) of something by force. "reft of a crown, he yet may share the feast" steal (something).

Just in-case you forgot.

Please fix this Riot, it makes me unhappy to see a scythe not steal its souls like its name suggests..

ER is honestly the most OP item on PBE right now. 65AD, 20% crit, up to 30% cdr all on 1 item, plus mana return on crit.. This item doesn't need lifesteal too.

The fact they changed the recipe should clearly tell why it has no lifesteal.

Doesn't build out of a lifesteal item and honestly doesn't need it. It was always meant to be a mana restoring item more so then a lifesteal item.

I think Riot has came to the conclusion that putting putting Sustain, and mana sustain on the same item becomes problematic when it works as intended. I remember when they experimented with a "Soul Sickle" which would have fixed the problem of "early game item at mid game price." And they decided that fix was not good for league.

All said and done, I still feel like the Niche of champions who can use this item. (to maximum effectiveness.) is still limited. It's made to be the premire caster item as it has Mana Sustain, And scaling CD. But that all relies on Crit chance, which requires Auto attacks. Not to mention that it still does not affect the early game, where mana problems are going to be the greatest.

Wrong.. This item is going to be a great early game pick up. I.E took a pretty big nerf so I dont think many will be rushing that item now. I can see item 3508 item 3046 item 3006 being the go to items right now.

My problem is, its name does not hold up.

Nerf other stats if you will. But if riot wants to focus it on being restoring mana from crit. Lets call it the mana reaver. Not "essence". an essence is a soul, or spirit. With this context, we are not reaving the souls. Otherwise, we might have lifesteal.
