Is there a counter to health?

Ok Ok Ok... I know that sounds dumb probably but I just got out of a game where everyone on their team had at least one health item, and due to that one health item just became practically immortal. It would literally be 3v1 and they could STILL outlast us until someone else came along and then we had to pull back due to the fact that we couldnt take them on. Now I know there are %health items but I was playing as Wukong and they just didnt fit into my build at all and I felt entirely useless by the 25 minute mark, and the game lasted another 10 minutes lol.

So I guess the question is.... is there a way to counter health as any one champion? Or do we as a team have to simply shift group tactics around entirely due to the fact that a champion just will not die on the other team?

i'm gonna go with "duh" on this one, I had damage, it didnt do shit, it probably took out 1/8 of their health tops before I started getting close to death.

Liandries and botrk.

Health is also as weak stat w/o resistances. If their resistances are low grabbing flat penetration can actually cause you to do over 100% dmg.

As a Wukong you have two options, depending on what role you're taking. If you're more of a split pusher than a team fighter you go for life steal. You don't need to burst down a high health target when in small fights, you just have to last longer.

If you're team fighting mostly you go for Black Cleaver for the armor shread, and you focus on targets so your ADC can better shread them with Lord Dominik's Regards and Blade of the Ruined King.

yeah black cleaver was my first item actually (besides my jungle item), and i'm not sure what my adc did to be perfectly honest. They were Ezreal though and had an iceborn so probably went blue build? I honestly didnt check sadly. I also went for Deaths Dance after the black cleaver and I STILL couldnt sustain in fights. Then again, kinda hard to sustain against a nasus lol

Yeah... Blue build doesn't normally do much in the way of tank shreading.

Nasus is also a special beast. The main way to win that matchup would be to skip defense and become an assassin. Problem is if you don't get early kills and snowball you'll fall really far behind really fast.

Well, take it or leave it. If you expect the enemy team to build HP in advance, you would want to pick up someone who could health shred. Otherwise, you need to get your ADC to do the Tank shreding.

your only other option would be to fight fire with fire. As wukong, you could easily build enough defenses to be durable, and still have enough damage to be a threat to enemy squishes. And defensive itemization does scale a bit faster. (except maybe for ADC itemization) So if you can't build dueling items, build tank.

yeah thats true. I started shifting that way in my game but by the time i started that it was too late really.

Wukong main here. Against teams that are far from squishy, you are going to need to build a few tank items as well. Full AD Wukong is amazing if you get ahead early and have a few squishy targets to blow up. By "Full AD Wukong" I really mean 3 offensive items, 1 defensive item, Boots, and a GA if it goes that long. However, against sturdier teams you are going to need some more tank stats. Normally against these teams I go 2 offensive items (maybe only 1 if I'm behind), 2 tank, boots, and a GA.

Are you playing Wukong top or Jungle?

Generally speaking, any life steal beat those who stack health items because you deal damage as you steal it so you're supposed to win that encounter. Some buddy who build health is only supposed to be good at regenerating naturally and to survive all type of damage which mean, health is good in a team fight where all type of damage are into play and health is good for a player who wish not to stay low on health for so long only to be forced to press B often.

Critical hit is good as-well since the more health you got, the more hit is required to kill a player. With more crit chance, you're supposed to score a lot more critical hit before your enemy dies. So i would go for crit and life steal.

Also notice that damage based items are always more expensive than defensive based items. This mean, damage based items always win. but that also depend on heroes and how good you are at engaging, disengaging.
