Three Champion Capsules in a row

Since the Pre Season update, I have received three Champion Capsules... I wouldn't mind it as much if I didn't own every champion, but alas, I do. The first two I received had three Champion Shards, the last one which I received 5 minutes ago, had one. I seem to be missing the point of the new leveling system if the only thing I'm going to get is an item I already get plenty of out of Hextech Chests...
