Discussing Wukong, the Monkey King

Hello folks, today I wanted to share my thoughts (and concerns) about the first champion I ever picked up as a main, Wukong MonkeyKing

I'm just gonna get straight into this by saying that- in my personal opinion -Wukong is in desperate need of a gameplay update, if only because the last time he received any sort of balance change was in season 4.

His kit is just so... outdated.

Riot has Wukong listed as a fighter/tank; more specifically a diver. First of all, if you ask pretty much anyone with experience on the champion, they'll tell you right away that you pretty much never build Wukong tanky outside of Boots (likely Ninja Tabi item 3047 )and a Guardian Angel item 3026 Second, if you do decide to go full or mostly damage, you'll subject yourself to death... alot. Again, Wukong is a diver; he wants to jump straight into the enemy team and use his ultimate to cause as much disruption as possible. It's not like with most assassin-type champions who stack damage where they just want to kill the priority target and get out unscathed, Wukong (supposedly) thrives in being in the middle of the fray... that is until he gets focused and deleted faster than you can blink.

Then there's his passive... dear GOD that passive. I won't dwell on it too much, but it's such utter trash that I'm actually quite shocked it hasn't been changed at all.

His W, Decoy, is also fairly useless, and is probably the main reason a lot of people say Wukong is awful in higher elos. The only reason i've seen people fall for it when I played him is because Wukong is played so infrequently picked that they had no idea what his kit even is. Should you encounter a player who is familiar with his kit however, they'll immediately recognize you decoyed and act accordingly.

Even when i look at Wukong's strengths, it just seems really unhealthy. Like, it's astounding how Rengar Rengar can get nerfed into the ground for having the ability to delete squishy champions without any counterplay, yet Wukong literally does the same thing yet no one bats an eye.

TL;DR - Wukong is outdated and needs a gameplay update in my opinion.

Anyways, if you managed to stick through my childish ranting, I appreciate it. What are your opinions on Wukong? I'm genuinely curious what you guys have to say.

I don't agree for the build. yeah full tank is stupid, and yeah i mute any1 asking me to go tankier or tank... but with item 3142 / item 3147 > item 3071 > then full tank. its totaly playable. I build Wukong glass canon tho... but i don't die so much.

Im not fond of his current W... i won't go so far to call it useless.

Yeah its unhealty... But Wukong isn't nerfed cause his early is too weak and he's easier to manage for ennemy team. I mean just look at lethality meta, its the best meta for Wu... but even there he wasn't meta. Wukong is always playable, sure, but never the best option.

Wukong whole kit need a rework IMO. His passive is near of useless during laning (and in jng) and no so strong after during teamfight. His Q & E are cool... but they seems too old school. Q could be great as passive (like arena of valor), his E point and clic don't provide much skill expression IMO. His W is to predictable. His R is a dps spell... no need to add more i guess (Wukong is a bursty pick & squishy

Wukong is a roamer pick, but he cant push fast on his own, and don't roam so fast too. When riot will change him, ill hope they'll keep him as niche pick (i want to be able to blind pick him)...
