Promo Matchmaking So Fucked Up

Getting to promo in S1 I'm facing P5, G2, G4, G3, G3. First promo match in the series vs G3, G2, G3, G2, G4

I literally needing to play at a G3+ level in order to get promoted to Gold 5 out of Silver? what the fuck. If I'm beating those players just move me to low Gold already. This MMR vs ladder rank discrepancy is such shit

http://na.op.gg/summoner/userName=klrlus says I'm at a 60% WR and G4 MMR yet its taken 6 games just to get into a series.

EDIT: Going into promo from ~1500 MMR (S1/G5 level) games it jumps to ~1600 To series: 1621 Game 1: 1603 Game 2: 1590

After the loss in Game 2 MMR dropped to S1 level of 1521. So then I get dealt this game Game 3: 1655 vs G2, P5, P5, G3, P5 while being at a fucking S1 MMR Just bc I'm in promos it gives you a big clamping roadblock game

Game 4: Unranked, Me, S1, G2, G3 vs G3, G3, G3, P5, G5.

Also going up in S1, that site's Match MMR: 1453 1499 1485 1509 1480

then at promos "boop hey lets crank this shit way up for the promo series!". Better win 4/6 to get promoted! 1621 1603 1590 1655 1608

Solid promo series matchmaking

You generally get paired with the worst of whichever division you're in your promos for. It's also very common to play against Gold players when you're in S1.

I remember losing my first Gold promos because my Plat 5 adc fed his ass off

I was genuinely shocked

There's a big difference between rank and skill. I've seen plenty of 40% win rate gold players. They're actually silver V/bronze players, but its so hard to fall out of gold that they stay there forever. That's the actual issue.

A discrete system is idiotic when skill is a continuum. There's not a big skill difference between a silver 1 player and a gold 5 and gold 4 player. In terms of MMR that's all within a small lose/win streak. Yet, because of the promotion system its a lot more games.

That's why I dread placements every time I make a new account. I'm mid plat, but I can very easily place into silver if provisional matches go badly. Hell, Tyler1 placed into silver II this season and he's at the top of challenger. Placing into silver means I'll have to play probably a hundred extra games in the season to reach plat because silver is full of people who afk, feed out of their mind, and are generally useless. It's all RNG.

Anyway, my point is those G2 and G4 players in your promos could very well be silver v in skill level.

So here we go. Game 4, again MMR fucked https://imgur.com/a/1dp7EkO Promo from S1 vs G3 G3 G3 P5 G5 everyone pretty much a 50%+ winrate and have LP in their bracket so it;s not like they're playing below their MMR or on a loss streak

Figured since I have a 60%+ WR and vs G3+ in all my series and going straight from S3 (4-6 placements) to gold in about 40 games I should skip a tier? From S2 to Gold, I just lost a single game in the S1 series

Nope https://imgur.com/a/WVzqxse Still just G5

got to my p4 promos with ease, like i didnt even tried. Mid promos obviously we had 2 lanes that fed their asses of and went full flaming and 2nd game was literally the same just worse. And now im sitting here with 67lp because i lost both of my promos (yes i actully lost that much) and thinking why im still playing this shitty game. Guess i cant just let go.

You have to look at their MMR not at their Elo.
