Playing another game makes League of Legends a lot more enjoyable.
DISCLAIMER: I would like to make it clear that I still think Dynamic Queue is awful and that Riot should remove it. This is not a post made to glorify or bash Overwatch. I just used Overwatch as a comparison because the way its matches are structured is very similar to League.
EDIT: DYNAMIC QUEUE
I would also like to add that if you are lower than Diamond / high Platinum than Dynamic Queue really isn't effecting you THAT MUCH, so you shouldn't jump on that bandwagon nearly as much as i'm seeing. Even when they are Queued as 5, Gold players are still Gold, Silver players are still Silver. Dynamic queue is only a problem in higher elos where players with good decision making and shotcalling skills can co-ordinate plays effectively with other players over voice chat. Queueing as 5 doesn't change the fact that low elo players are just not that good.
I don't want to make this post too long, so here is the tl;dr. If find that you are constantly upset while playing League or that League is more stressful than fun, than playing another game might just be what you need. Here are some things I have noticed coming back to League after playing Overwatch for a month.
. Riot's balance is not perfect, but neither is any other game company's
Don't get me wrong, Overwatch had a great release. But it still does suffer from the same issues any other game does. Dynamic Queue is even more of a problem in Overwatch than in League, playing solo is pretty much suicide. There are some heros in Overwatch that are blatantly overpowered in competitive play (I'M LOOKING AT YOU WIDOWMAKER) whilst others are completely ignored. Even a company as massive as Blizzard will not be able to make a perfect game. When you see something in the game you might disagree with balance wise, remember that its not going to change in any other game (and contrary to what people think, Riot does have smart people running this game, it wouldn't be worth over a billion dollars if they didn't)
. League is not toxic, people are toxic
When I installed Overwatch, I had the idea that toxicity was a thing exclusive to League and that built in Voice Chat along with a $60 purchase price would keep the toxic people away. I was wrong. In Overwatch you will reguarly hear people calling their teammates a plethora of insults. Voice Chat does not alleviate this problem. In fact, I have seen players get into all out yelling matches over voice chat while playing. You would think people would be chill about bad players considering the game is less than a month old, but they still act just as toxic as any other playerbase.
.If League stresses you out, its your fault, not Riot's
The biggest thing I learned from playing Overwatch is that video games are made for fun. There is nothing wrong with taking a game seriously and making a conscious effort to improve, but if that overshadows the fun you should be having, your doing it wrong. Overwatch does not have ranked yet, so every game you play, you play for fun. There are plenty of people who are try-harding and trying to improve at the game, but they all realize that they are not really getting anything out of it. They are just getting better at the game. They don't get super upset over a loss. People regularly honor players on the enemy team and acknowledge their mistakes if they made any.* Any game that you played well is a "Good Game", win or lose.*
Just remember that League is only a game, and its a very fun game at that. Playing another game that you find enjoyable but take less seriously might help you see how good League of Legends really is. Unless you plan on making it your career, don't take it too seriously. Don't worry about if your team unperformed or if you did poorly, just try to play to the best of your ability. If someone is being toxic. realize that's just how people are and mute them.
I'm ready for the downvotes.
