How to reduce queue times

Simply make support role more attractive. Over last few years you have nerfed the sh it out of all utility supports and now you wonder why nobody wants to play it anymore. It is just sad and pathetic.

The new support items are fun haha. They cant do anything to attract more people to the role that would be fair to all the others. Its the nature of being a support that other players hate and don't want to play. Its like being a healer in an MMO. There is always a shortage but needed so everyone has to wait for one to show up before you can raid. Same applies here. People want to dps but never support those that do dps.

Support isn't an issue in heros of the storm or Smite, but in LoL it is. Usually a good support wins the game in HOTS. Ever since Draft pick, support pick is problematic. Riot has done a good job with the items, and introducing new masteries but unfortunately the wait time is still the same. I think Riot is just out of ideas and I don't blame them at this point. How do you strengthen support without overpowering other roles in the game? In smite, the lanes are vertical and the JG is it's own lane (sort of) and they're constantly in competition for middle harpies (a type Jg minion) as it could give em gold advantage and level advantage. Usually mid lane or support is the God that help them keep them on of this objective. As well lanes are much closer and if the ADC in Smite is doing good, support can free roam lanes and help other lanes out. This isn't the case in LoL. Lanes are very far apart and Support would loose a tremendous amount of XP. In Hots, support is vital for healing. He's pretty much focus' on healing the entire team as much as possible while kiting or CCing them.

And that is the problem with LoL, is because the support role was never intended to be a thing, where as HoTs and SMITE were created with supports in mind as a role. Riot essentially had to shoe horn them in balance wise after pro players basically cemented them into the Meta and Riot couldn't do anything about it.

Hell I remember how much Morello all but HATED supports when I first joined this game, constantly complaining about Soraka, and how he felt healing champions, or champions that had healing were "toxic" to the game.

I miss all the early cdr on supports now though

Support won't be a popular pick until the majority of people find it it's a team game and they don't have to 1v5 to win.

It's a player mentality issue not a game design issue.

You tell me when the day comes that I DON'T have to 1v5 to win, and I'll be happier to see it as a team game. Even as a support, I still feel that ranked play is basically 2 people having to carry 3 dead weight teammates more often than not.

It rarely feels like a team game, and just feels like "well as long as we feed less, I might be able to carry this 0/13 adc"

And magically support items are being built on other non support champions and the support role issues stay the same.

Yup, 100% I can tell you now that item 3109 and item 3107 will be nerfed for that exact reason, putting supports right back to where they were.

It's so hard to make items that are -low gold -high utility -later game scaling to try and keep them relevant.

To be fair, they did MASSIVELY buff support in the last patch. They lowered the cost/buffed most support items, and they added Redemption and Knight's Vow. Redemption is super awesome, and they made Mikael's OP. New locket is also good, and it gives a lot more MR to the suppor that buys it (rather than being split up by the aura).

Scarra on "Beyond the Rift" said they should have called it the support update rather than assassin update because of how strong the support itemization is now. Also, courage of the colossus is really nice on tank supports, since they have 2 people to lane against so they get twice the shield in laning phase.

As a support main I couldn't be happier (unless they released some more support champs: there are way fewer support and ADC champs than there are Mid/Top/Jungle champs, but Riot releases them at equal rates).

The very first thing they said when they came out with dynamic queue was if people too many people weren't playing support and it was becoming a major issue they would try to find ways to give incentives to play it.

And that lasted all of never as they did absolutely nothing.

They just need fix that problem where if Support is anyway an option, even if you put Fill Secondary, you will get it a good portion of the time. They need to make it an exception that you will get your Primary a majority of the time if you have your Secondary as Support or Fill. I would have become a Bot/Supp main if it were not for that flaw in Champion Select. Now I'm just a Support Main because I hate playing Top, Mid, and Jg at all.

I think people would be more willing to play Support more often if they made that exception for that role or whatever that could make it work.

Support items have been getting buffed, which I'm very thankful for. (Support main since I started playing) But the Support item powercurve is much weaker compared to "real" items like Morello (strongest AP item in the game -_-), Randuin's, Iceborn, etc etc. Sightstone is also the biggest joke of an item currently, only useful in a full team that is highly coordinated, and even then, its stats suck and you would have almost been better off keeping Warding Trinket.

I usually just play second APC with a Spellthief's/Frostfang because playing straight Support is suicidal right now. Currently, the only exception is Soraka, who I still build full Support on. (Mikael's > Ardent Censer > Redemption > etc)

Nothing is going to make the support role enough "more attractive" without making it not support.

The average gamer is not a team player. The average gamer is a glory hound. And the average gamer wants to do damage, not tank or heal. (gamer can probably just be replaced by person tbph)

Even at points when supports have been definitively broken and OP, people didn't flock to the class.

You aren't going to change people's headspace. The only way around it is to not have a support role. And that's not actually the same as getting people to play support by making it more attractive.
