Not enough bans

In talking with friends and fellow players, we all seem to agree that there aren't enough bans during champion select anymore. Part of this may just be due to the feeling of there being a LOT of champions with excessive power on this current patch, but it's also a matter of roster size.

As much as I may be crucified for even mentioning the game, take a look at DotA 2. The game currently has a roster of 111 heroes, with 5 bans per side for a total of ten bans. Meanwhile, League has 129 champions, with only 3 bans per side for a total of six. That means that League, which has a 16% larger roster, has 40% fewer bans. That's a lot of discrepancy. I guess the question is, when the whole roster of the game has gotten as large as it has and continues to grow, why are we still only allotted 6 bans?

If it ever does change, I wouldn't expect it to be any time soon, maybe Season 7 would see the introduction of more bans per side, but it just seems ridiculous to try and keep everything in balance with 130 champions, and less than 5% of them can be banned, when for a champ list that long, it seems more likely that more than that will be in a state of imbalance and require banning.

You fail to notice that we have to buy champions.

The difference is, DoTA actually (or atleast generally) uses its bans strategically. Its very rarely "A hero is strong, ban them." But more like "We're going for PL, so ban earthshaker" or "They're going for a push comp, ban Lycan" or even "They need to pick a support, lets ban CM." They can afford 10 bans because the bans would actually be varied. In League, it'd just be the same 10 champions banned over and over again.
