Boosters/Smurfs? Why?

I am very much an advocate for letting others play the game how they want - after all, it's meant to be fun and I don't want anyone I play with to feel pigeonholed into the "meta" for the sake of remaining relevant.

However, I can not find a reason to justify smurfing. It just ruins the game for the ELO/Rank/whatever you smurf at. I was just in a ranked game where the enemy mid laner admitted to smurfing on their "brother's" account to boost it to Gold because he was bored and couldn't reach Platinum. I got a kill off early on in laning (mostly from sheer luck), and after that was in immediate danger if she was so much as on my screen (they were playing Akali).

Why is this still okay? I'm making an effort to climb before the Season ends with the free time on my hands, and this sort of thing just ruins my mood and kind of leaves me without a desire to play. I feel like being optimistic about ranked is such a terrible idea. Obviously not EVERY single person claiming to be a smurf is one - they may just be trying to gloat about a play/lead - but the ones that are out there just are such mood killers. Why is there not a way to track these things? Like some sort of log when more than one account logs in from the same location. It wouldn't solve ALL of the problems with smurfing, but it may cut down if nothing else.

Thoughts? Ideas? Or stories of your own to share?

I lost my gold promos because I was facing some diamond Smurf. And another game some asshole trolled me and threw the game on purpose. He added me a few days later said I was garbage and said to kys and I didn't deserve to live.

Thought : It will never end.

Idea : I don't recommend playing in these last 15 days or so. It's going to be a lot of smurfs and boosters climbing in the last ditch effort to gain X elo. It sucks if you have the time on your hands now but it's sadly just not worth it.

Story of my own : Same as yours.

Smurfing has and will always exist in pvp games. There is literally no way to stop it. Accept it and move on. That's why so many pvp games die after a short time period. People get tired of getting stomped and move on to the next new game where people haven't figured it all out yet so they don't have to deal with getting curb stomped(as hard).

smurfs under mid diamond: cannot climb because they aren't good enough so they start beating on noobs

smurfs mid-high diamond: smurf because most diamond players are challenger smurfs, so they have unfair matches in their elo.

I am against smurfing 100%, but if i could choose between 30min challenger queue times with mostly autofills, or playing in diamond i'd choose the latter
