Starting Ranked: from a support mains view

I am a avid league player who in the past four or five months has gotten access to ranked. I didn't play a lot at first because i wasn't good and would rather play with my friends. Recently school has started and due to my friends and I having different schedules we rarely play together, but that is not what this post is about. This post is to highlight my frustration with the hellhole that is Bronze and maybe for some answers. I am a rare species called a Support Main, and I enjoy playing support but when playing ranked I feel that it is Impossible to get into slightly higher elos when queuing as a supp. Here is my reasoning:

  1. Lp is based off of wins
  2. If I can only get LP by winning then how am i supposed to win if my team is trash -I believe that riot would say if you are good enough then you can carry a team... LET ME TELL YOU WHY THATS BULLSHIT. If you remember I am a support main, so how am I supposed to carry a team if every ADC i play with DC's, trolls, or doesn't even know how to auto attack. I am going further and further down the bronze ladder but not because that's how bad i am but because My team is 99.99% of the time trash. Now some of this is out of riots control, Like how every top laner I play with quits, doesn't help, or "is being countered," or when my junglerMasterYi comes to gank with half health thinking he is The Faker of the jung, gets killed , and complains about how he should be in challenger but bot lane fed. All in all I am a salty, Bronze 2, Support main who is looking for answers and a place to rant. I hope this post was not a waste of a read and that something is taken out of it.
    Sincerely, A concerned bronze player

It's not the team. You're just not making enough plays as support to get the job done and the enemy support is. Difference between Bronze and Challenger mentality is Bronze players try to change what they have no control over (Their team's play) while Challenger players look to correct their own mistakes. Three biggest things I've heard higher elo players iterate...

  1. Figure out your mistakes and focus on your mechanics. I've seen supports carry games in low elo on their mechanics alone.

  2. Don't over exaggerate your team's flaws, it won't help you improve and you just tilt yourself. Worry about you.

  3. Warding is one of the most crucial things to do in low elo because no one does it. Just giving your team vision can change the flow of the game because you know where everyone is.

you can carry from support my friend and i made bronze 5 smurfs he is a support main and im a mid/jungle main and we raced to gold 5 on them i got to gold in 6 days he got to gold in 5 days we both solo queued (our mains are both plat 5) i owed him 20 bucks it honestly is dependent on how good you are at the job you do

It's either you pick champs that can make followups "look easy" to even the stupidest teammates, or grab a friend (preferably someone who mains ADC but doesn't have to) to work with you.

Applies to almost every other role, but you will want to be "good" enough to make plays so your (usually bad) teammates will do what you want them to do. If you like playing peeler stuff, make good peels. If you like playing tanky and/or engage stuff, make good picks. Things like that.
