Tanks...

Hello there. Let me start of this post by saying I am most definitely not a good player, I have not been playing for too long. However, in the time I have been playing League of Legends, I have run into the same problem over and over. Tanks. I am just going to blatantly say this, tanks are a little broken. And by a little I mean a lot, but hear me out. Like I said, I don't have much knowledge of the game at the moment, so I would like to ask you this, how can a player build only health, and still do so much damage. I have played games where on the charts the tanks did 2x the damage of their adc.

Now you can go down to the comments and spam "Git Gud", but if someone could tell me an effective and efficient way to play against tanks it would be much appreciated.

Judging by your match history, you like to play assassins, which are countered by tanks.

tldr: build mr not health

i can't find a single game where you vs a tank in lane

tanks damage output is the 2nd slowest in the game utility supports are the only ones behind them in terms of dps

dps is damage per second most tanks build cdr and defenses (health/armor/mr) cdr as it's the only stat that significantly increases their dps most tanks have an ability that does % dmg mundo q ornn w maos e these abilities by themselves don't do good damage to burst people but they are abilities most people tend to not want to avoid as these abilities do % damage that means that when they fight healthier targets these abilities do a lot of damage this has also a drawback and it's called resists any defensive stats you can get against these champions significantly reduces their damage output as tanks don't build penetration a nullmagic mantle decreases ornns damage by 1/3rd for example this means that if ornn is able to 1 shot you a negatron cloak means he can never kill you again but as you find yourself in this newly found immortality you get complacent and stop caring about avoiding those abilities and thus they just stack damage a lot of damage a lot of irrelevant damage

also comparing a tank to an adc is a bad idea as the skill of the adc and the support of the adc largely determines their success

tanks are complete booboo in the current meta state there is too much healing there is too much shielding there is too much true damage and any kind of resists makes tanks damage irrelevant

you see that ornn beating your riven in lane so bad that she can't farm? well she got deaths dance now and 3 points into e and ornn no longer deals damage to her in fact she is outhealing his damage even through healing reduction

your problems with tanks are only yet to begin when riot starts balancing for worlds and tanks start beating bruisers in lane again then you will see a problem

tanks currently are at complete mercy of their teams and as you said yourself git gud

We can't tell you how to play against tanks in general. It depends on the specific champion.

Which champions in particular did you struggle against recently?

Mostly Nasus, Darius, Naut, really any tank jungler, Nasus. Oh yeah did I mention Nasus?

Really? Every One of those I have played against usually build their main item, that being trinity force or something else. Then right after just health items.

Health items are not necessarily tank items, but regardless Darius is a juggernaut who builds damage and tank while Nasus is a stacker who builds depending on how well he is stacking. Neither are tanks however both are very good at becoming unstoppable killing machines at low elo, which might be where your gripes are coming from.

they are both juggernauts , slow immobile high damage dealing no cc champs.

tanks are low damage , high cc/aoe and typically some kind of gap closer

for example

darius has no way to cc or gap close does alot of damage if he gets to you maokai has Q aoe /knockback/slow , W gap close/root E slow, ult aoe root low damage

makes sense?

just looking at your match history what youve played with/against recently

fighters: Kled DrMundo Volibear Mordekaiser Darius Garen Trundle

tanks: Shen Leona Nautilus Rammus

while both like to stack a ton of health and defenses, the main difference between them is damage vs. team utility.

those fighters are carries whos job is to deal high amounts of sustained damage. everyone of them, except kled is both short ranged, and lacks mobility which makes them very susceptible to kiting.

the tanks are your teams engage, peel, and enablers for your own carries. they dont tend to bring a lot of damage to the table but can aoe cc, or chain cc either multiple or the same targets.

as a maokai otp i wish he was back in his broken state prior to rework man i miss the days of maokai ap bruiser being unkillable and out damaging entire teams. i had a 19 kill game on him ( personal highest kill total for maokai and all champs i ever played ) over 80k in damage to champs in a game ( personal highest total )

now im lucky to get through laning phase with out being to far behind.

Friend, if you hate tanks right now, I've got some bad news for you.

Tanks are in the worst condition they've been in, EVER. The only one still hanging on is ONLY able to do it because he can increase his health passively, allowing him to gather tank stats more quickly and thereby delaying the point in time where he just gets overrun. EDIT: Forgot Maokai. There's another one hanging on because he can actually play at the range of the damage dealers by planting potatoes, don't ask.

Tanks are in SEVERE need of help right now, and their lack of presence is causing even more problems to spring up, which Riot is apparently trying to bandaid with more damage or something, I gave up trying to follow their logic after they let Galio one-shot people for a couple days on live.

MrFawknSunshine1 votes

issue with galio is they can decided is he an ap bruiser /anti mage or a tank he dont need to be both. its hard to balance his tankyness while him having damage. but i agree his Q was over tuned . but his ap ratios on his abilities are high. so yea.

i do miss old galio though, i played him vs ap comps at support , it worked really well for me.
