Look at that 8 year old Talon video. A full Talon combo was at best doing 1/3 of a mage's health. Assassins didn't need to 2-3 shot targets because they themselves were never in danger of being blown up in a matter of seconds if they didn't kill the enemy ADC first.
The damage creep in this game is insane.
Now in this game, a single bad trade means death or being put so low in health that lane is over if a jungler doesn't land a successful gank on you.
People complain about CC tanks because they don't understand the symptoms of power creep.
Tanks are a problem not because their tankiness means they never die, but because their never dying means ADC'S blow everything up.
If there was a global damage nerf where EVERYONE was doing considerably less damage, tanks living forever would hardly be an issue because the tanks themselves wouldn't be killing people in 5-7 seconds (and assassins/mages/ADC's in less than 3 seconds).
The solution isn't to buff tank items or nerf damage items. It's to nerf base values, period, and increase base defense on every champion so that the game gets back to needing multiple trades to secure a kill in lane instead of just 1 or two.
