I would assume so, although I have yet to try it. You will probably sit at 0 lp for a while though until you lose enough games to drop.

i was just in a live chat asking my own question about ranked, and i decided to ask your question as well because i happened to be browsing the boards as well, and the rioter said you can in fact demote from the negative LP splash.
