Tips for a Support main in Bronze?

A Clever Pun··1 votes·621 views

I'm well aware that 'carrying' as support in Bronze is not so much a thing. I'm also aware the best way to get out of Bronze playing support is to find a good adc and duo with them.

Those points aside, are there any tips for directing my teams to do the right things? I've been playing League for a long time, but I haven't played ranked too seriously until this season (hence, the bronze rank). I don't play perfect, sometimes I tunnel vision on bot lane, or don't ward enough, etc, but I know all the important concepts of the game. And almost without fail I have the least deaths and highest KDA, as well as the highest vision score, in my games. So while I'm not going to say I can't improve, I think it's more important for me to know how to get the rest of my teammates to do the right thing at the right time.

I've had a lot of games where my team wins 2+ lanes, but then run around like agitated monkeys chasing kills, or farming jungle camps, or getting executed by baron at 18 mins. How do I get my teammates to take drag after getting a double kill bot lane, for example, without being "that guy" who ping spams, or sounds like a know-it-all in chat. Cause I've been accused of both. I know what I'm doing, I just need to convince my team that I know what I'm doing. If that makes sense?

Maybe it's not a problem with me, I don't know, but I figured I'd throw this question out there and see if anyone knew a solution.

Honestly, the best idea is to find a good ADC and duo, just as you've stated. Don't waste time trying to convince people that you know what you are doing. By duo queueing with a good ADC, the two of you will be carrying the team and yourselves to many victories. I recently found an awesome Zyra support around the same rank as me and we carried each other from Silver 3 to Gold 5 in a matter of 2-3 days of duo queueing.

I have a few people I'm considering duoing with, but I'd prefer to stay solo if I can; otherwise I don't feel as though I earned the rank as much.

2 things: ward the whole enemy jungle. Bot side when the adc is farming under his turret and top side when the enemy adc has backed. Keep an eye on the map and tell your team everything that happens as if only you had a map.
Second, either pick an utility support and pray at least one person can understand what you do or pick a carry support and pray your team will have some tankiness/utility. I prefer the first one because usually no one picks tanks/utility so I'm the one that has to.

It's hard to ward the whole jungle with only 4 wards max per champion, haha.

I admit map awareness is not my strongest suit, but generally in most games that I don't win, I have the best map awareness on the team. The problem I'm having is, for example, say there are 4 people top on the enemy team. I notice this and ping dragon/bot tower/mid tower/some objective. But jungler ignores me and heads off to farm chickens; mid laner starts to back after pushing their lane, and my adc continues afk farming.

I don't know if there IS a fix for that problem, but I thought I would ask, lol.

By "whole jungle" I meant the two places in each jungle sector where the enemy jg and mid go to roam, which is wardable with 3 wards and a control ward. It's easier if the rest of the team helps though.
But yea, apart from picking a carry support (which is meh in higher elo), your best bet is to just change role, sadly.

Build Banner of Command to split push while you group up with your team.

Building lane splitting items like item 3512 and item 3060 can be helpful and super clutch. It will take experience to know when to build each. And don't be afraid to place item 3512 in a place not far from home terriroty (your turret, base, nexus, etc.,) becaues the whole point is to build up your waves and they will eventually push on their own. Their power lies in the fact that the enemy team will have to devote someone to go deal with it. When that happens, you can force another objective (ideally) or an unbalanced team-fight (but only if you can win it/worth it).

However, getting gold and lower to group is nearly impossible. You just need people who can see that it's the best thing to do.

That's exactly my problem; doing what you just said would work in theory, but actually getting the team to TAKE the objective while the enemy team is split/distracted is the problem I'm having.

Hence why I said what I said in parting.

people saying you cannot carry as support in bronze dont play enough support

Alistar Morgana Blitzcrank Thresh

kill you lane with CC

then go mid lane every chance you get, mid laners never respect the roam from a support.

Edit: this is assuming you reliably hit skill shots and know when to roam.

other wise just pick a mage, go bot lane and do damages.

Thanks for your input, yes I do know that. I have climbed from Bronze III to Bronze I in a week in 30 or so games, but none of the games that I won were games with incompetent team-mates. I am asking how I can win THOSE games, as a support.

thats a game to game thing.

If someone doesnt have their hands on the keyboard there IS nothing you can do.

the idea is, is making it as simple as possible for them to kill or do the killing yourself.

as long as you do that literally every game, you'll be fine.

Scratch that. Believe in yourself. Carry your games.

If you go into a match thinking "Yeah, I'm not gonna be carrying this game" You already lost your chance at carrying.

YOU are the one who's gonna decide which botlane wins lane.

YOU are gonna be the one that doesn't allow the enemy to get vision.

YOU won’t allow a carry to die.

Getting out of bronze shows a good mindset. Getting out of silver shows a slight understanding of the game. Getting out of gold shows that you're finally starting to get good at the game.

Improve your mindset, leave bronze
