r/OperationRevert - Katarina Feedback Megathread

This reddit discussion contains the opinions of the Katarina Rework of 2016-2017 and how they believe it is currently affecting the game and Katarina's playstyle.

According to many on this discussion, the Old Kat was better, more fun, easier to pick up, harder to master, and didn't require stellar internet to play. She could be played by anyone after a few games and became an iconic champion in the League of Legends Roster.

Even I knew what Katarina did before I even played League in 2014 at a friends house.

I would say that the majority of Katarina players today prefer the old Katarina. I believe personally that she should be reverted to her 2016 edition, maybe with some nerfs, maybe some buffs even.

I hate new Katarina, I was able to get to diamond 3 with her last season so it's not like I didn't know how to play her. She's just not the same champion anymore. Waiting 1.25 seconds for her daggers to fall to the ground before I can do damage on an assassin is just dumb. Delayed damage on assassins is a horrible idea in general and ruins their entire kit. Look at zed who can literally 100-0 you in less than 1 seconds ( it has happened to me COUNTLESS times ) and then there's Kat who has to wait for her daggers to hit the ground and hope that the enemy is ape enough to stand in the dagger. New Kat is only good against bad players who don't understand how to not stand in daggers.

Revert the Katarina Rework Riot because it's totally whack. If you're going to drastically rework a champion you should probably keep both versions in game and make the reworked version a new champion.

Where is your data set that proves all those statements that speak for many players?

Objectively speaking, the updated kat is a better designed champion. She has a wider skill range, very clear counterplay, and more freedom for creativity. The only skill with old kat was knowing when to go in (something not lost in the rework). Once you E in, it was just mash your combo as fast as you can and hope for a reset to do it all again. Now you have the ability to trigger resets yourself with the passive dagger mechanic.

As a kat fan, I much prefer the new kat to the old one.

Katarina may not need reverted, but she certainly needs changes.

I understand the frustration of carry champions who get assassinated by Katarina, or Zed, or Diana, or Rengar, so on and so forth, but the reality that I don't think Riots balance team either understands or is willing to admit, is that fun is a zero sum game. It is fun for the assassin players to be faster and more skilled than the opposing carry. If they are not, and the kill doesn't go through, than the champion is useless, and in that scenario, assassins simply don't have a place in league of legends.

The only assassins that work in League have nearly no delay in their damage output: Leblanc and Zed are the fastest, therefore are the best.

I do not like the changes to Katarina because I think they made it too difficult for her to kill an enemy champion. She is too slow to kill a carry before they Zhonayas, flash, stopwatch, taric ult, lulu ult, so on and so on and so on. There are too many ways of surviving an assassination attempt in this game for the delayed damage thing to work.

Ugh.

And this frustrates the hell out of me. I loved old kat. I didn't care if people thought she was bad. Now I think she's bad..............and no one cares.
