Making losing fun (with minimal effort)

So I have been talking to my brother about how difficult I find it to enjoy my time in League of Legends. We play bot matches to warm up then head into Player matches, where we normally get owned. (if my brother isn't able to carry the entire team) This has lead me to not enjoy matches, it feels like I just waste 30 minutes every match. Then I read this article on Kotaku. ( http://kotaku.com/losing-in-mobas-should-be-more-fun-1701067967 ) One of the most difficult things to do after losing a League of Legends match is to jump into another one. My idea for making losing more fun, in a minimal way, is changing the results screen.

When you finish a match you are provided a small results screen. Here you get to see everyone's Kills/Deaths/Assists as well as how much IP and XP you got. By simply making the IP and XP bars animated with a small sound effect you can drastically increase the player's mood at the end of the match. The animation and sound effects will draw the Player's eye and make the player more aware of the rewards they are getting. This will encourage Players to keep playing even after a loss. After those animations play you could then change the bar to show the Player's new IP and XP totals. The animations and sounds is the main focus and will communicate to the players that even when you lose something good happens.

I had a second idea that would require more effort but could also help. Spectate mode is able to focus on where lots of action is taking place. What if on the Results screen a highlight reel was shown? Could be reel of the big moments on either team or individual player moments.

For the big moments reel, it could show players where their biggest mistakes happened so they could walk away more informed. While in a match it may be difficult to see what went wrong, but in a highlight reel the player is able to focus more on the action and learn the problems easier. The individual reels might be easier to implement as each player's computer could be in-charge of recording the action. This would show each player when they are doing best and it could encourage players to focus on when they were doing well rather than when they failed.

Showing this highlight reel is a great way for players to be observers of their actions to learn from and lessen the feeling of dread after losing a match. These are just a couple of simple ideas I had that could increase the amount of "fun" a player feels when losing.

people just need to lighten up and banter each other during the match

Once you're level 30, XP means nothing. Once you've played for longer than you'd care to admit, IP means nothing either, since you own everything already.

Those aren't the Players that are likely to put down the game for as long. These ideas are more focused on keeping new players, rather than keeping players already invested into the game. However, my other idea about a highlight reel could target all types of players.

Losing isn't so bad. I don't really mind if I lose. It just means I'll get better teammates so I'll win some other time and end up at about the mmr I should be at anyways. I know that I'll have essentially the same win/loss record 50 games from now, regardless of whether or not I won the current game. It's more about figuring out what I could've done better in the game than if I won or lost.

I'd say the only unfun part of losing is when you're still in the game. There's the feeling that your team is so far behind that you literally can't do anything useful. This is what really sucks but I doubt is going to get changed.
