Level 30 (and not smurfing)

Hi !

I am new on lol, ive been playing it for 2 weeks and I was loving it. Until ive reached level 30. Its impossible to play and to learn, EVERY single match I have to play agains't levels, +100, +200. Since I am level 30 (2days ago) ive never played against my own level...

Its very frustrating bcuz I am not lying when I say that since 2 days i have lost all my games, I mean what am I suposed to do as a new player? I am ALWAYS playing agains't people who are playing this game for years ...

And then people say "you learn better when you play agains't good players", well when I have to camp under my turret the whole game and still feeding them when I am under a turret, I don't really see what I can learn ...

Is it bcuz of my "good" ratio that I play agains't high level players or is it just riot that dessided that it would be a good idea to put level 30 players agains't level 100, 200 players?

Its verry frustrating bcuz I used to be a good player agains't other new players, but playing agains't people with literly 100x more playtime then me is impossible and not fun ...

Please let me know if it is just normal or if I can do something about it :)

Practice in draft more. You're not ready for ranked. You'll have a lot more fun in draft since its not as tense and people aren't tryharding. Then go to ranked when you feel more comfortable with your lane/champs. Good luck :)

That's unusual. Usually it's the pre-30 levels that people say are a problem. Either way, as you were not here, let's explain this and clear this up.

Account level means nothing about how well someone will play. Absolutely nothing. Levels are not used for matchmaking because they are not predictive of anything. Levels only went to 30 for most of the history of this game and it was late that they were uncapped to be like LootboxWatch. Further, you already know that people have multiple accounts and with the simple fact that people may not get better from games, it's no surprise that there are people with hundreds of levels at the bottom of the ladder with there are people in the double digits at the top of the server. Level is not even representative of as little as the number of games played since this level system change came out. It really doesn't mean anything at all.

But still, someone who is level +100 and is playing for over a year will own a newbie like me. They know almost every champion, they know when to go in etc. They have 100x more gametime then me. So ye maybe they are bad in your eyes, but a level 100 who is bad will still be good in the eyes of a newbie ;)

not because he is high level does it mean he know when to go in, if he know all the champs and know important infos such as when to go in ect ect he would not be in your bracket, he would be in way higher rank then that.

You don’t know your limits unless you push your limits ;)

Play more aggressive. Go for risky trades. Don’t focus so much on macro yet ( unless you want to), learn how your favorite champions work.

This way, even if you lose, at least you’ll have fun and improve [sg-ahri-2]

Ty, ive tried to play agresive. But then i get punished so badly and I feed them so hard ...

That’s actually good! In a way...

When you get punished, you learn:

  • the combo you tried doesn’t work too well/you didn’t pull of the optimal combo successfully
  • the importance of kiting & dodging skill shots
  • the enemy champ’s power spikes vs your own champ’s (e.g. lvl 2 Talon Talon has stronger kill pressure than lvl 2 Lux Lux , given they have relatively equal HP and mana)
  • NOT to 1v2, unless you’re mega fed and safe
  • NOT to choose kills over objectives (e.g. chasing a 1 hp Ezreal when all his teammates are dead, and you could help your team secure the free Baron instead)
  • ...

Sub 30 actually has much worse matchmaking.

1 norms also has poor matchmaking. But if you can sick to draft. It'll somewhat normalize but not completely. 2. Play ranked as soon as possible. I know that sounds strange but none of us are pro players. Ranked matchmaking is far far superior and will place you closer to where you belong (solo/fuo not flex). Ranked is the casual mode.

Ignore levels, some people just aren't good at league. Level rarely relates to skill. It only related to knowledge of you make a point of getting better. Even then they'll be playing where they belong.

Tldr norms are not balanced at all. You can get iron to diamond in the same game. Play ranked.

make a second account and relevel to 30. rinse repeat

I did that, but then I go agains't all smurf accounts lmao... Second accounts always play agains't other second accounts (so smurfs). Atleast that what ive read.

then all you can do is blind pick until youre good. A master has lost more games than the beginner has played

when i first played back in season 3 my friends forced me to play ashe mid against gold players lol yea didnt turn out too well.and i didnt know anything not only about league but mobas in general as i never played dota.took me a solid year give or take to be able to hold my own against silver players and was thousands of games thousands of hours later.i stuck with it cause i enjoyed the game and didnt mind trying to learn it.my advice is to find other people with similar experience or players that dont mind showing you the ropes.i already had a crew of friends that played since season 1 and were seasoned vets which helped me quite a bit

You get matched based on your MMR.

I really do hate the matchmaking for early levels, and wish they would fix it or at least have an option when you make a new account to identify as a smurf so you get placed against actual players and don't ruin games for actual new players.

As for what to do, unfortunately, there isn't much. Even if you make a new account, it is highly likely to just match you against smurfs again, and nothing really changes. For now, I would actually just play against intermediate bots and learn to easily beat them with scores of like 20/0. I remember when I first started I actually struggled with intermediate bots, and it's a decent challenge for new players.

Once you can easily beat intermediate bots, try playing some normal games again, and see if you perform better. If you're still struggling, believe it or not, I would actually recommend playing ranked. Even if you get placed iron, that would be an improvement in matchmaking, as you will be against other iron players which are generally new players or players that struggle with the game mechanics, and will make it closer to your skill level allowing you to improve and not sit under tower for 30 minutes. Playing against iron will most likely be an improvement than playing against higher elo smurfs that are leveling new accounts, or just unranked accounts who have been playing for years.

Lastly, try watching some higher elo or pro players play, and try to learn what they do differently compared to you and copy it a bit. Many of them try to be informative while playing, and you might pick up a few tips and tricks than can help you win more games. And if you don't understand all of the game mechanics or items and champions, try going to the lolwiki and reading about champions and items and what they all do. There are many abilities that have hidden traits and passives, such as Ekko's W actually gives him an execute.

It is always like this for new players. The game needs (unless you're lucky) around 50 ranked games to place you with (mostly) other players of your caliber.

As someone else mentioned play ranked only. It gives the most consistent matchmaking.

Stop playing normals. You could potentially play against 5 man teams and all sorts of nonsense. You could also get stuck playing against someone with literal years of experience over you. Playing ranked will give you a more fair experience

Imo tryndamere is too difficult a playstyle pattern for a level 30 to pull off reliably against more experienced (not necessarily better) players. He needs to splitpush because his team fights aren't great and that's just more game knowledge than you can know rn. When you can push, what you can fight, who you beat, how you lose. Play more garen or darius or someone else easy until you are comfortable enough with the teamfight/splitpush orientation of each common toplane champion and which ones you can beat as who

As others have said the best thing you can really do is play ranked. Your first few games it'll probably put you in like silver-gold tier where you'll get crushed (don't get discouraged, it'll probably happen) and then later into your placements you'll start to feel closer to your skill level. Even if it's a super bad rank you'll more likely be with players of your skill level and then you can learn from there.

What account are you playing on though? The account you're posting with has no ranked games played and therefore we can't really get a look into your MMR matching.

Another note to take into account is that people tend to over look that Riot said at the beginning of this season (not blaming you since you said you've been playing for 2 weeks...also congrats on getting to 30 in that short period of time??? Kinda odd but okay) that all new players to ranked will be matched with Silver 1 or Silver 2 MMR. I recently finished levelling up a side account and was placed B4 but played all matches against S1/S2. After you play your placements, things should get a little easier since you'll be paired with your Iron or Bronze teammates instead of against a higher skill cap.

Overall, you're playing with people who have been playing the game for at least 6 months or more and therefore have WAY more experience in the game than you do (build paths, micro/macro play, map awareness, etc). Just practice. Just like anything else in life that you do that's new, it takes practice.
