I have been playing league for about 5 years now and over that time i have earned 105 Friendly honors, 46 Helpful, 488 teamwork, and 379 honorable opponents. I keep seeing people with ribbons and some i know that have less honor than me. What gives rito i would like to have a ribbon at least by now. What am i doing wrong.

Jadmaster52 votesfirst off, it's not the number of honors you get, it's the quality. If a person gives out a honor every game to a player, vs a guy who gives out 1/100 games to a player, that one players is worth 100x the amount of the other players ribbon
Very Hard Engage1 votesexcept they're caped around 2.75 value. if nightblue3 were to suddenly give a player friendly they wouldn't automatically get the friendly ribbon. they also diminish down to about .2 value

Very Hard Engage1 votesits not exact, but you can figure out if you track your honors and check back after every time its given. its just done so infrequently that people dont pick up on these things.
also watch your profile and how those values change after every game as well. know your before/after
you'll get your friend to give you one and no1 else did any, you got your +1 message after the game but you went to your profile and nothings changed.
then you'll see sometimes you get +1 teamwork and its gone up by 2 or maybe even 3. but you have no idea how.
we can only conclude that the minimum values are between 3 and less than 1. but from testimony a friend has about .2 value and a stranger is worth more than 1 if they rarely give it out. if they frequently give it out its about 1.

To add on, it's also about consistency. If you get honored every single game you'll very likely get the ribbon. If you get an honor every 5 games, then you're chances drop a lot.
Personally, I currently have the Teamwork Crest of Honor. In total I've gotten it 4 times now and I've played for about 1.2 years. I've lost it mostly because of a week of inactivity (like when on vacation). So yeah, inactivity will make you lose your crest (or your chance of getting one).
If you're the least bit toxic, you might not get the ribbon ever, so sportsmanlike behavior is demanded of course! If you're a good person every single game, you're sure to get a ribbon. :)

Very Hard Engage2 votesyou get them from farming them in bots and asking to be handed them in pre/post game chat. thats it. anyone with a ribbon is lieing to you on how they got them. you do not get them through legitimate means.
i used to routinely give out teamwork/friendly until i found out you had value to each hand out. if you dont give them out your value goes up, if you frequently give them out your value goes down. now i dont give them out at all unless someone asks for it.

No, I don't ask for honor cause that just seems weird, to be honest. If they feel like honoring you they'll do it, so why ask? Also, there aren't any benefits minus the small aesthetic change so I don't get why I'd ask for that reason as well.
Neither do I play many bot games. Ranked and normals is where you learn how to play, not bots. Saying "anyone with a ribbon is lieing to you on how they got them" is quite false.
Maybe it's different in OCE in comparison to NA or something but I haven't really done anything minus not be toxic. It could also be because I was quite bad for a long time - I ended S5 with B2 after ~8 months of playing.
