does malphite counter jax in lane?

Jax you just afk farm, trying to survive until 6. Generally, not that hard.

After you hit 6, you farm like normal, but buffer your ult so you can Q->auto->W or Q->W at 2 stacks. Easy, low mana-cost harass that Malph has to outspend HEAVILY to trade decently. All his armor does nothing against your W and R bonuses.

As Jax, you basically want to afk farm until 2 items. Don't go too hard and Malph won't be able to kill you. Just harass, back off, heal. Your only goal is to keep Malph's shield down if you want kill pressure.

Generally,** Gunblade is your best bet as a first item vs Malph** because it bypasses the most likely defensive items he will build and lets you outsustain any form of damage he can throw out so you can afk farm. Trinity is obviously your next priority (its heavily mitigated by the armor Malph will build, which is why you go gunblade first).

BotRK was heavily nerfed, and almost isn't worth getting anymore early on. Vs other matchups, maybe, but I wouldn't vs Malph.

Most high MMR Jax mains get mostly offensive items, including HP so that your R offers significant tankiness. To them Trinity+gunblade is the best 2 item combo on him in the large majority of games.

Does he counter Jax? He lowers his all-in potential.

Flat out counter? No, unless its a FotM sheep-type player who will only rush Trinity Force+BotRK.

Worst case, Jax can even be successful as tanky AP, if he can farm the lane.

People underestimate the damage Malphite can do in lane, against squishies in particular.

Malphite counters more champs than you would think, and has more kill pressure than you would expect.

At a certain point in Lane, Jax will just start out damaging you, and as soon as he gets Bork, you can forget about beating him in a 1v1. However, it's also incredibly hard for Malphite to die to Jax. He has too many ways to just say "Fuck you, we're done fighting, I'm leaving"

from my experiences, early game malph can win quick trades but jax can stick to him and force a decent trade. It all depends on whether you can dodge jax's stun
