Akali Jungle
Anyone know if that's a thing or not? I would love to take her there.

I wouldn't recommend it.
The lowered gold income and the necessity of purchasing a jungle item delays your Hextech Gunblade significantly. You will pretty much always be playing from behind gold- and experience-wise compared to using her in a lane, making it significantly harder to duel and assassinate champions.
In addition, her early ganks (pre-6) suck so you lose a lot of early map pressure.
Diana is similar in several respects but she is a far stronger jungler than Akali. I would recommend her if you want an AP assassin jungle.

I know back in 2014 the best akali was challenger and would play her everywhere except adc (even support).
