I would love to see the surrender button disappear. I do not enjoy how everyone decides that at 20 minutes of all times they either have to leave or they are doing bad, fed the other team and want to leave to avoid the embarrassment of doing worse. I can not count on one hand the numerous times that my team has surrendered when I was doing good ad the team in general was doing good and we could have won. For example recently I was 18/3/14 with and everyone on my team was going positive but the mid lane was getting fed by (not a troll) but just an awful player. They all decided because the other team mid lanner was fed that we should surrender and they did. I just believe that having the surrender button in a game or even at 20 minutes should not be in here. Another reason that the surrender button is a waste is because for some od reason when the enemy team is in my base destroying the nexus towers and we are about to lose people still hit that surrender button. Explain the reason for that. That is just dumb. Overall what im trying to get at is the surrender button should be removed in my opinion or at least increase the time to like 30-35.

I cant tell you for sure how long I have been playing league on and off (approx.. 5-7 years) the surrender button drives me crazy and all I can to is at how dumb this surrender button is.

People surrender right before their Nexus is about to die because at one point (not sure if this still happens or not), you could activate the explosion animation twice in succession if the team's surrender went through right before the enemy killed the Nexus. They do it to see the Nexus blow up twice.
I understand the frustration of people giving up too early... I've won plenty of games in which my teammates tried to surrender multiple times, only to come back in the endgame. However, removing the option of surrendering is just BEGGING for trolls with no life/nothing better to do to drag games out as long as possible "for the lulz". As annoying as it is to lose a game that you think could have been won, how much worse would it be to be stuck in the same game for 2 hours because your composition is entirely countered and the enemy team is just camping outside your base for kills and refusing to push any further? The amount of deliberate disconnects would go through the roof, Leaver Buster would be working overtime, and the overall toxicity of the game would rise exponentially.

That's why there's a "Surrender" button.

Well, unfortunately for you, I'm a realist. when my team has a third, or less, of the kills than the enemy, when it's obvious one or two of my team have either been dropped on their head or simply refuse to actually learn how to play the game, or they're just outright trolls, i click surrender. when it is unbelievably obvious that, with the players that're on my team and the champs they've chose, we're not gonna win, i click surrender. if you don't like surrender, then too bad for you. i don't mind losing a good game, but unfortunately my luck is such that i am constantly, and i mean CONSTANTLY, teamed with complete retards. and every time, i get two people like you, you idiot. "we can win this! doesn't matter that they're ahead 20 kills, that they've destroyed all our towers, that we're down an inhib, we can win this!" to you, i have a very simple, plain message. get with reality, get off your high horse, and let those of us interested in a good match get out of this garbage, bullshit match and to the next where HOPEFULLY we get a good game. don't like it, don't play with other people.

the real problem is that there shouldn't be an option for surrender in ranked. screw normals they are for fun. but ranked should only be for people who want to win and try hard. so take out surrender and there will be less trolls

I feel your pain.
Surrendering makes sense when you have AFK'ers, But way too often, bunch of wimps give up when it's perfectly possible to win They claim it's a waste of time, it's wasting my time waiting for another game.

But for all the reasons that Aikido Lawn Ninja listed, Surrendering is necessary. What CAN fix this problem is if maybe there are two separate queues: 1 for people who don't want to surrender (save AFK'ers/IRL problems), and 1 for people who are surrenderers. And also queues for people who just have fun playing regardless, and for people who are interested only in winning. That way, the people who shout at others for not playing well enough get their own queue where everyone wants to win, and the people who are learning a champ and have graduated from the AI in normals can have fun playing.

I wanted to find a thread to rant about surrendering on without having to make my own. So here I go. Surrendering just because you are doing poorly is dumb. I agree. Surrendering at 20 is usually dumb. Its almost always possible to make a comeback. But not all the time. I just got out of a game that went 15 to 63 (my team the 15) and it lasted 34 minutes. We knew we were boned from the 19 minute mark. We all agreed to surrender at 20. I never surrender at 20. Ever. But this game, every lane was feeding. Even me, the jungler. All of us were awful. In every way. And yet the duo botlane (kalista and tryndamere) decided to vote no for the next 15 minutes. Things just kept going down and down and down. And yet they never surrendered. I hated them for it. Surrender matters. Its used to alleviate pain. And yet they refused. At one point it was 14 to 45 and they both voted no together. Seriously surrender is good sometimes.

I just played a game 4v5 with a mid afk at 8:00 in ranked the Top laner inted a few times and started flaming me the jungler and our bot lane for not just surrendering at 15:00 he afked till 20:00 and then came back and we won the game 4v5. I was Lucky that my bot lane wasn't a majority of the players like my top laner are and just said alright we lost gg and we played it out and manged to win. Few games after im 5/6 as adc we have a 13/6 kat mid and my team loses one team fight because they tried to 3v5 and low and behold since The only two people who weren't in the teamfight was me and the person who was doing the worst on our team we surrendered at 24:00 because they didn't wanna play cause they lost a fight. Literally Lp down the drain from a hard worked 50 minute 4v5 because my next game my team didn't want to try anymore surrender needs to be removed from ranked play or at least made to where all five teammates need to accept (because maybe the team is premade and all have to leave or something hypothetically) a team does not need access to a next game this is boring button in competitive play!![zombie-brand-clap]

I would like to bump this. If you are getting reamed in game and only 3/2 of the team wants to surrender, seeing that 3 votes yes, 1 no and a blank for 2 minutes is really discouraging. Make it so the window for surrender disappears after you vote.

Hey Man I think you are exactly right. I was playing with three of my friends just now, one of them was 0/5/0 and he decided to call everyone to surrender. I hate it when people give up so easily. I would love to start playing with people that don't surrender. We should play sometime.
