Varus Blight Quiver Bonus Damage Doesn't Crit

I was playing Varus recently and noticed that the extra bonus magic damage from his Blight Quiver passive doesn't seem to critically strike. Since I know that Thresh's E passive bonus damage can critically strike - as can Diana's Moonsilver Blade damage - I was wondering if Varus' W bonus damage not criting is a deliberate design choice or simply an artifact of the code.

Technically, this should be in the Report a Bug section. You are attempting to bring attention to what you believe is erroneous behaviour,

However, this is the intended behaviour; on-hit damage does not critically strike (unless it explicitly says that it can do so).

Diana's Passive, Thresh's Flay Passive, Varus' Blighted Quiver on-hit, and Kog'maw's Bioarcane Barrage will not critically strike. The underlying autoattack can, but not the on-hit damage.

Sadly, no. IIRC, that functionality is currently broken.

It's the reason that Rioters will delete a thread that's in the wrong section instead of moving it.

I wouldn't bother reposting it though; on-hit effects not critically striking is not a bug. None of the abilities you mentioned are capable of critically striking (the underlying autoattack can, but not the ability).

I have seen them do so in game and have in fact deliberately checked both of these in custom games (hence citing them here).

Diana's passive cannot critically strike, what you are seeing is the base auto attack critting.

Thresh's flay passive can critically strike, but that's because it only modifies the base AD ratio of his auto attack (it isn't an on-hit effect like Diana's Passive).

Varus W Passive proc is not an on-hit effect, it is a spell effect (i.e. it is triggered by using a spell on a marked target), and spell effects do not crit to begin with. There is no abnormal functionality here.

It is an on-hit effect. Like diana's passive, the base damage can crit, but not the bonus magic damage from flay.

Varus's W has two components:

an on-hit bonus magic damage effect that acts like the other two examples (diana and thresh).
a second on-hit effect that applies stacks of blight, which is an on-spell effect (consumed when the target takes damage from one of varus' other abilities). When consumed the target is dealt %max health damage. This also cannot crit.
