Thoughts on Jinx

Okay ... so I've been going against Jinx a lot lately and it feels like when I do, even if my bot lane doesn't give anything up, she still ends up being an absolute terror mid to late game. It feels a tad insane. She feels like the Katarina of ADCs.

Obvious strategy: pick her off if she gets too far from her team or assassinate her in a teamfight. Yeah that works about 30% of the time, but the other times she'll either 1) do so much damage on her way down the rest of her team will clean you up easily OR 2) if her team is half decent they'll stall til she can run away and she'll stand back smacking your front lines with AOE crits 'til you're done with her team and clean you up, getting faster with every kill if you think you might just get away.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is noticing how difficult it is to keep this champ under control in game. Tristana has similar comeback potential, but at least she's pretty darn weak early and mid game. Jinx pretty much has no kinks in her armor if we're looking for weaknesses. I've even tried her out for myself, and I have to say she's a lot easier to get into than most adcs in the game. I went 23/11/10 my first and only game ever using her, for crying out loud. And I haven't even mentioned her pushing power or potential ability to single handedly take any and every objective on the map by herself.

Anyone with me here?

Her Q gives her 10% extra AD just for picking her, and it applies that bonus damage in an AoE

Her ult is global so she can get kill/assist money from across the map

Her passive is a handy repositioning tool, meaning she can clean up teamfights similarly to Trist or Kat

All of those things combined mean that, even when behind, Jinx has all the tools she needs to rocket (hehe) herself back into the game after one good teamfight or a few well-placed ults. Jinx is extremely annoying to play against, and they seem to always get fed when I see them in soloq. I don't think she's OP, but she is a headache do deal with because she can become a threat very quickly even when initially shut down.

EDIT: she faces alot of competition from Kalista for the Most Cancer ADC Award, but right now I hate Kalista more

Haha i totally agree with you there. She is a headache. But I don't think Kalista is as strong when it comes to coming out of a deficit. A fed Kalista is horrifying, but any Jinx at all is a pain in the ass.

I feel like these champions do very different things. Kalista has no major damage steroids, but has amassing ability to kite. Jinx is a little more General. with Pure DPS and siege potential. fighting against her, you will need to kite her, because you won't get her in a strait up duel.

Self-proclaimed Jinx main. She is extremely immobile and of course squishy. As long as you hold your own in lane and don't give up kills (make the sure jungler doesn't either), you can leave it to your top laner MonkeyKing Pantheon JaxRenekton to take care of her. As long as you don't feed her early, her mid game rockets aren't going to have much presence in teamfights. If your top laner is a near-constant threat to her, she will be forced to stay back and use rockets.

That's basically how you have to go about dealing with Jinx. Don't feed her and zone.

I would be careful their. As some one who can play jinx. I find myself being able to use my rockets for waveclear and hyper farming. And all I need to do that is IE and one other Crit item. I feel like she can accelerate once she hits the mid game.

You're totally right. And, I don't really see why people hate Kalista so much right now. Sure she's maybe the most slippery ad carry in the game, but she can only penta your team with some help and if you stay close long enough for her to nail you with spears enough. Jinx can take anyone on your team and if she has a bloodthirster, she can walk away basically unhurt.

Sadly it's never as simple as "don't feed her" when you're playing with mostly randoms. Most of the time people ignore the fact that Jinx is the comeback kid and one slight mistake leading to her nabbing a kill somewhere can easily turn into a disaster. People are like "relax dude I got this!" and they get caught out by jinx and her team and she ends up with a kill.

But you are right about the top laner point. I need to brush up on my Jax!

I have been noticing that her Q is really overwhelming

As far as a Top laner fighting against her, if your support is good it can completely neutralize the enemy Top

I consider part of my job as a support to be making sure the enemy support can't do THEIR job. If one of my teammates is gunning for Jinx's head, I'm gonna do my best to make that possible. It's just another part of the game.

If the enemy picks Jinx and I'm support, I consider it my personal responsibility to pick Leona.
