Mordekaiser

I just started playing some Mordekaiser and I really like him, but i have seen a ton of hate for him and wanted to know why...

I felt like I was strong, not weak, all my skills seem cool, I guess if I had to complain it would be that you can almost just walk away from him; but I don't see that as a real problem since hes not the only champ you can do that to.

As far as builds go, I was going trinity force, frozen mallet, rylais crystal scepter....The thought being that i would have enough slows on my abilities and auto attacks to stick to people.

People don't hate on Morde, they hate on what was done to him. He was reworked to be a duo laner, but was so hilariously broken (like a lot of former morde mains like myself said he would be) and so he was nerfed. He eventually became rebalanced and now nobody even goes down to bottom lane with him, making the entire rework pointless to begin with

Adeptus Astarte3 votes

This is confusing to me, how did he ever function as a bottom lane champion? Bottom lane is all about adc and support, how did he last against that? Wouldn't he just get kited all the time?

Sohleks1 votes

They gave him incredible waveclear, tankiness, and solo lane exp in a duo lane.

His tuning has been pulled back to not played at all there.

They gave Morde INSANELY disgusting sustain, STACKING damage from his W, and 1.8 AP ratio on his third Q so he could 1 shot people. Basically, you would pick Mordekaiser, get a tanky support with engage (Leona/Nautilus), build a teamcomp around Morde, and freelo.

M0RDEKA1SER1 votes

His 3rd Q used to do somewhere between 1200 and 2000+ damage. All you had to do was Q a couple of minions, flash, one shot the ADC.

Now you need a melee support with strong engage and lockdown capabilities. My favorite is Leona because I can proc her passive all 3/4 times with just 1 W. Which will also heal her for most of the damage the openents do.

ah yes, i remember those days

"rito morde absolutely shit stomps with a level advantage he'll terrorize bot lane if you do this."

rito changes morde

morde wrecks bot for awhile

My Morde tips:

  • Max W first, than Q, don't max E, you'll kill yourself from the HP costs and it doesnt bring nearly as much damage/utility as your Q/W maxed.
  • Rush Rylai's if snowbaling or its an easy lane
  • Rush Sunfire against a hard AD opponent
  • Rush Abyssal against a difficult AP opponent
  • Bring MS quints, scaling HP seals, scaling MR glyphs, and magic pen marks (don't be stupid like me and buy hybrid pen marks)

Trinity is insane on Morde now, but it costs so damn much. If you buy Trinity, ALWAYS buy Sterak's (365 damage sheen procs is not something to laugh about).

Example build:

item 3116 item 3111 item 3146 item 3001 item 3068 item 3065 My absolute favorite build.

If you have any questions about how I build, or what items you think are good on Morde, ask me.

what about the rageblade? it gives attack damage, ability power, and attack speed...I was wondering what its passive would do on him

Fat Bastard GOD1 votes

I've tried Rageblade. It actually deals a shat load of damage, but it costs a lot. It's passive that lowers the proc time of on-hits doesn't help Morde. Rageblade isn't bad on Morde, but I find Hextech Gunblade much MUCH stronger in terms of reliable damage/utility. Rageblade also has to ramp up, and is meant for AAing champs. Morde has powerful AAs from his Q, but is not purely AA reliant like Yi or Trynd.

Keìron1 votes

hextech protobelt is better than gunblade imho.

Fat Bastard GOD1 votes

Protobelt is honestly a trap item on Morde. It's active and stats look really good, but if you compare it to Gunblade, Trinity/Sterak's, and even Abyssal, it's really not that great. The active from Protobelt is NOT a reliable gapcloser.

There are other, more reliable options for Morde than Protobelt, but in the end you can build basically anything on Morde.

MealReadytoEat1 votes

Protobelt is quite good on Morde, but only because it applies Rylai's (40% for 1 second). Its also MUCH cheaper than the other items you mentioned, aside from abyssal, which its only slightly cheaper than.

Erockandroll2 votes

My only real complaint about Mord is his Mobility. Understandably Juggernauts don't have dashes, But in Mord's case, he doesn't even have an MS boost, or any hard CC on his kit. All with the Lowest base MS speed that you can actually give a champ. He's literally slower than any other Juggernaut in the game.

And I'm certain this stems from his Duo lane balance, Given that many ADC's and supports have low base MS speeds as well. He was balance around the bot lane, and not balanced around his role of a Juggernaut.

M0RDEKA1SER3 votes

He does technically have a situational speed boost on his W. When moving towards his W target. Also gives his ally the same benefit, I've actually saved a lot of people who were escaping from a failed gank/teamfight by tossing them the ring so they could run faster towards me.

Edit: none the less, I do agree that it isn't much justification for how slow he is.

Rylai's would be enough for Morde. It procs on his Q auto-attacks.

I feel like he has potential in the jungle, but I don't play him.

Jungle won't work mainly due to his kit. He doesn't have the CC to become a ganking jungler, yet he doesn't have the sustain to become a farm jungler, all he has is damage. Basically you will have someone like shyvanna but way more weaker since he doesn't get the free defensive stats that Shy gets plus none of the movement speed that makes shy a successful control/farm jungler. You woudl be too slow to do a severe impact on the game.

M0RDEKA1SER1 votes

Actually he has enough sustain built into his W to first clear without backing. And his clear speed is surprisingly effective as well.

You are correct on the ganking. He doesn't have a reliable way to do so except flash + rocket belt + ryleis. If the lane you're ganking for is paying attention, it's pretty much a guaranteed kill though.

  • Morde Main
Spoofghoul1 votes

and you can just walk pas a lane and heal them

M0RDEKA1SER1 votes

Unfortunately the heal only has 25% effectiveness against minions. So it wouldn't be very effective unless they're close enough to their lane opponent(s).

Spoofghoul1 votes

what about raptor or wolfcamp

M0RDEKA1SER1 votes

They aren't minions. Full effectiveness.

Spoofghoul1 votes

then you can easy heal with these and for top/bot krugs and gromp they juts gotta walk close to you for abit so you can use the ability on them

Sohleks1 votes

I've seen it. He can clear fine at 5 jungle cs a minute like the top tier ones. You max W and it gives you a lot of healing. This particular one was running stormraider's surge so he's stickier. With just a runic echo his damage is pretty nasty.

He works in the jungle if you have CC laners

Example naught top Leona support Cho mid "Adc" bot

Big tip for playing Mordekaiser; do NOT "rely" on your auto's or your Q. If you can get all 3 Q's, great, go for it. Your bread and butter is your W. Gives great sustain and damage. Rush a ryleis and boots. Then build however you want.

MunchCrunchLunch1 votes

he would be good against people that don't know how to play against him. hes not bad hes just the most immobile champion in the game.

SlaktarTasken1 votes

I just wish they didn't make his kit so damn gimmicky, it's borderline impossible to outplay anyone who understands how his kit works. No champ should be 100% reliant on opponents chaining mistakes to make plays, but Morde definately feels that way... so much for the Emperor of Death..

Spoofghoul1 votes

riot should buff his healthregen to like 25 or something not 9

Adeptus Astarte1 votes

As I have played more of him, I do realize that his inability to stick to targets is probably the biggest problem right now. I have found that some item actives do help, such as item 3152 and item 3146 , however the passive on item 3116 is definitely the best. I do prefer the combo of gunblade and crystal scepter for the double slow and extra sustain over the gap closer.

How else to fix this problem? Should they add some sort of cc to him? What if they added a slow to his E? That sounds really cool, but I'm nowhere near knowledgeable enough to give specific numbers. Could that 'fix' him though?

Let him rest in piece.
