As the original creator of the HALP Nocturne Fear thread, I'm happy and sad.

Way back when around 9 months ago, Nocturne 's fear got nerfed, not too many noticed then or even remember it today, but his fear got reduced in effectiveness and Nocturne's win rate lost 2% across the board. I talked about it, many Noc mains and ex-mains brought their opinions and we got a hell of a lot of upvotes that the change really sucked and then... nothing.

(Here's the link to thead if anyone cares http://forums.na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=4319105&highlight=renegen+nocturne )

Well after 9 months Riot has finally brought a compensatory buff to Nocturne 's fear! Maybe the Pantheon vs TwistedFate matchup last weekend between TSM and UOL had them getting worried a bit? Nocturne isn't even picked for his global presence anymore, he's 3rd on the list. The fear buff is nice, I can't wait to try it out but it's probably not going to make up for the 2% win rate loss that still remains to this day, I predict a slight bulge from the 46% he's at.

Thank you Riot, at least you remembered he existed and having one of the worst win rates in the game isn't fun for long term players.

(meanwhile Cassiopeia get a huge buff immediately after a rework because of fan pressure, sigh)

I'm not sure if Nocturne will be seen Competitively this season, he was considered to be a pocket pick that brings global presence and pick potential, but evidently so far he's getting replaced even in that category. Besides that, his strengths have always been farm speed and how well he scales with farm, unfortunately the S5 jungle has no farming opportunities for fast clearers and there is no gold either.

There was a "buff Nocturne!" thread on reddit a month ago or so, I was surprised to see it reach so high. In it, the community had sympathy for him and Ninjaken, the best Nocturne NA, recommended:

  • get his "global" ult buffed to the old cooldowns of 160/140/120. As still a big Noc main, I agree with that direction.

A less... divisive change would be to change his passive which is currently quite bad.

  • Buff the passive, it's traditionally given him sustain and clear speed, except clear speed doesn't really exist anymore and the sustain from the passive is pitiful, the passive is also useless lategame.

Just a few things to consider, would anyone else like to play or see Nocturne in soloque/competitively? It's been a while. Let's hope it's not another 9 months to wait, and hell maybe even a Rioter response!

Nocturne's ultimate is on a whole different level compard to TF and Panth... Faster traveeling and INSANE utility. It wins teamfights. Back when he was released Nocturne was a must pick / ban (like WW now). Riot has there reason to be cautious when buffing him. Especially since his passive already grants him a much better spot in the jungle than lst season, with the upcomming position changes of small creeps this gets leveraged.

Personally I thought his fear was too strong when it made people run towards him, and now his fear is just plain underpowered. Would be best to have something like a short root or slow reduction greater than what fear now applies.

Yeah, but most people agree that he's been ignored/nerfed a bit too much. His ult is quite weak at lvl 6 with a large cooldown.
