Is Azir worth getting atm?
I know he got nerfed, but I finally got enough IP to get a new champ and I wasn't sure if he was worth it.

I would say yes, just because his mechanics are pretty unique.
And you should not worry too much about the "META" (champs who are strong ATM), since changes are mostly unpredictable anyways.
You might get lucky, and the meta shift towards champs that you have already mastered.
He is pretty fun to play. If you are looking for a champion with an unique kit outside of the ordinary routine of point and click damage or CC like most other mid laners, then Azir is the right champion for you.
Azir is one of the scariest late game champion. He can melt entire teams with his sand Soldiers and pull off sick combos with his ultimate. However, he does have some downsides. Azir requires a tremendous amount of time to amass enough gold to start being useful, before he can get items, he is pretty mediocre. As well, although Azir can disengage from most assassins with his wall, Azir is vulnerable to long/mid range AP burst mages such as Xerath, Annie, and Viktor. Azir must put himself in their range to deal damage, and they can simply kill Azir a lot faster than he can kill them.
Besides the flaws in his kit, the kit itself has a steep learning curve. I picked up Azir in relatively few games because I was used to the quick mechanics from playing Zed and Yasuo. I seen people really struggle with Azir's kit. It involves a lot of micro-management and fast responses; however, the pay off to mastering Azir is definitely worth it.
If you want someone who can help you win games in Ranked Solo, Azir is not for you (try Viktor). However, if you want to have fun, Azir is definitely one of the most enjoyable champions in LoL.
i found my game improved slightly when i had a better idea of what other champions kits are
If your good enough with Azir you can do amazing shit, despite the nerfs. But he is Incredibly hard to play. Also to play him right you need to have Civilization 5 open on another monitor.
If you get things right with him, he'll be incredibly fun to play. Azir is as good as the player who's playing him. That's why most midlaners in LCS pick him.
I think that Azir is better than Viktor for ranked solo - lower cds, escape, peel, good damage + that tower hurts.
