Why Can't smite be an auto sum spell if you have get jungle as your role in Champ select?

so its not necessarily a big issue since the most common answer to my question would be "just take smite dude." and i can agree with that, but it can be extremely troubling if you do forget it. for example, i was auto filled as jg and i didn't mind it but i was half and half paying attention to champ select and something else so i didn't select smite, needless to say i was struggling all early game, killing camps at more time for more Mana and health for much less experience. Needles to say it can be really difficult to jg without smite. i don't propose anything that riot should change this or so, but i only seek to say that it would appropriate to have like an in-game reminder or suggestion for summoner spells with your received role.

This is a really stupid issue to have, and drives me nuts in games when ppl screw it up. The lesson is, don't go afk in select until you have locked in champ and changed your runes and sums . You have an eternity to have them changed so is really no excuse to not have the correct setup every game.

I completely agree with you, champion select wasn't elongated for us to go play Hearthstone while it ends, it's like people legitimately, unironically just don't give a damn about it and when it's too late it's not their fault, the problem here is that the jungler is crucial to the meta right now so when you don't take Smite (if you forget to take Smite because you weren't paying attention to the game I consider this intentional btw) you're pretty much breaking your team's legs (especially bot lane because of thr current meta).

Just take smite.

Seems like... not a terrible idea, honestly. I've seen more than my share of people forgetting smite and having a real bad game after, and it's worse now that champ select is shorter; it feels like you're really scrambling to look up and make a runepage if you don't have one preset, and that scramble can make it kind of easy to forget smite.

Because, how would Riot know which summoner spell you want to replace?

spoilers: the one that isn't flash

11% of players on Russia don't take flash.

Sure, flash is considered the quintessential summoner spell, because it honestly is. But you just know if Riot did this someone would end up complaining about how their ghost was replaced instead of flash, or ignite/exhaust was replaced, etc. It would be the same minuscule amount of players raising objections about the same topic, just from a different angle.

As far as the reminder, sure. Maybe if you don't switch smite on after you lock in your champ a thing could pop up on the side to say, "You should take smite for jungling."

The game shouldn't account for player error.
