So, yesterday i just finished my promos to silver(got placed in b3 after first 10 games). And today i see message saying that now placements should be closer to what we were last season and it said i had to play another match to get my new rating and i got "promoted" to b1 - from s5... Technically i DID get better placements than before, but still...
Basically, the whole flex matchmaking was screwed up, and people (you) were able to rank up abnormally fast, because of this. Riot basically reverted your MMR back to bronze 3 (10 placement games) and used your last game to modify that. A 1 division demotion isn't that bad, and only ?3? divisions lower than your s6 rank. I was gold 5 and got b3 after placements.......... Hopefully the extra match helps me out.
It would appear whatever you started season 6 at is where you get placed. So for you bronze 1 makes sense as you can see here:
Because of the MMR mismatch in Flex Queue, you got reseted to the original starting point(pre placements). But remember this is only Preseason, the rank you accomplish now **WILL BE RESETED AGAIN! ** The rank you get in preseason does only influnece the placement in Season 7 to a SMALL extend! Sidenote: 1-2 Tier drops are completely normal in preseason.
I.E.: You were Plat 5 at the end of the season, were placed high Silver after placements, now got placed low Silver. If you now climb to Plat again, you will then only be placed in low Gold at the start of Season 7!
So dont worry to much about the current placement!
