New Ranked Dynamics and Client
I am a beginner league player, this is just my second season. I will always be behind Riot as they are extremely dedicated in making this game popular and fun to play. However, with the release of this new client and new ranked concept, I can't help but think they have taken a step in the wrong direction. The client is buggy (to be expected), you can't change item sets, the process getting a game started is less user friendly, etc. I think they were premature in releasing the new client and should have spent more time on it and released it mid season perhaps. I like the look a lot but there wasn't a whole lot wrong with the previous client, only there was some features that some people wished they didn't have that were added in the new client.
All of these client issues I'm sure will be taken care of with time but it's still a sort of inconvenience at the start of season 7.
Secondly, the new ranked system doesn't make sense to me. It seems like riot is dividing the league community, now there's a barrier between some players because really who is going to have the time to try to climb in both queues? Every player is just going to end up picking a queue that makes sense with them and then the other queue will get abandoned. Don't get me wrong, I understand the goal of making two a solo/duo and this flexed idea. But to me it seems like the entire purpose of this was to keep solo players from getting screwed over playing with toxic and/or trolling teams of 3, 4, or 5. But if this is the case why didn't riot just keep everything the same but add a solo ranked queue. Screw this solo/duo idea and banning the parties of 4 (which my friends and I are extremely unhappy about) in flex. Continue to have an open-to-all-groups ranked queue that was the same as last season and for all the whiners who can't handle playing alone, make a solo queue where they can play by themselves. Just think about it, if the biggest issue solo players being forced to play with ranked 4's (which to be real how often does that happen?) why don't they just give the competitive solo players an out if they wish to have it. I mean what would riot rather have, a few raging solo players because they feel like they can't play in the standard ranked queue or numerous parties of 4 that can't play together because of a the whiny solo players.
Like I said, I'm new to the game, I haven't climbed past silver, so no I don't have a whole lot of experience in the higher elos or what it's like to play there at a consistent basis, but if the bulk of the players of league are in bronze and silver, I think it would make sense to cater to them as well, so they continue to enjoy league and want to continue to play it.
These are my thoughts, let me know what you guys think, like I said I will always support riot, they are in this for the right reasons and it will always be a fun game to play regardless, but shutting groups out from playing together doesn't seem like a full proof plan.
