@Riot Anivia and the new Quallity of Life Changes

Reading the patch notes on the change I thought an additional circle had been added which would indeed make her q explosion radius a llittle easier to understand however what I don't understand is why the radius indicator itself was removed for those who don't use line missile indicator.

I've played a fair amount of Anivia since season 1 and I still don't smartcast her Q because the skillshot moves so slowly that its important I can see the max distance it will travel and use that to judge when to throw the iceball out. One of the most important things for using Anivia's Q is to throw the iceball so it passes through your opponent before reactivating it to explode the Q, ensuring you get the full 1.0 AP ratio out of the skill. I find this considerably harder to do now with the new indicator since it feels counterintuitive, the goal isn't to hit them with the edge of a fairly large circle, its to make the ball travel through my opponent like a regular skillshot and reactivate it anytime after for the stun damage as well.

On top of that she no longer casts the q if you click outside the spells range. Instead she will move forward until she can cast the spell where you aim the mouse. I always click slightly beyond the edge of the max range since theres no penalty in clicking closer to your champion and its easier to visualize a line if you click further away. Added to the fact that theres no longer a range indicator, it feels like I'm getting doubly punished.

I don't get how the new changes make it easier to play her at all. I don't know if anyone agrees with me but it would be nice to hear the reasoning behind the change, especially why the range indicator was completely removed instead of just adding an additional circle overlay.

Not casting the Q when clicking outside of the range is a bug they're addressing. As for the indicator being a 500% terrible idea I'm sure they're tired of hearing me fill every thread with my opinion on it but it echos yours. We're aiming to hit people with the center of the skill not the edge so needlessly putting this huge thing in the middle of where I'm targeting which only serves to kill my visibility does not make me a happy bird.
