Hail of Blades suggestion

Hello,

Since Neeko came out, I have been playing with Hail of Blades to see how it feels and I eventually came to this single question:

Why would I ever choose Hail of Blades over Lethal Tempo if I want an attack speed keystone?

I want to compare the two here before I provide my suggestion and argument for it.

Hail of Blades - 75-125% attack speed instantly for 3 attacks. Auto resets do not consume these attacks. This tree offers more sustain through lifesteal and some power/vision based options.

**Lethal Tempo **- 40-110% attack speed 1.5 seconds after damaging an enemy hero. Last 3 seconds up to 6 seconds. This tree provides several sustained damage options.

The issue is that since you have a secondary tree, if you want any of the options from that tree you are likely to still be able to fit them into your build. So there does not appear to be any real benefit from taking hail of blades over lethal tempo on most champions. There are a few exceptions to this rule but a rune used by 2-3 champions does not make the rune good. In fact, I argue that the main reason why Riot has not scrapped Hail of Blades yet is primarily due to Jihn players using the rune.

So what is missing? If you look at all other options in the domination tree, they all have 1 thing in common. An adaptive damage component with the intent to increase burst potential. So my suggestion for Hail of Blades would be to add this damage component into the attack speed. Basing these numbers off of electrocute, this would look something like:

Hail of Blades - 75-125% attack speed instantly for 3 attacks. Auto resets do not consume these attacks. While active, all basic attacks apply 10 - 40 + ( .1 ap + .2 ad) adaptive on hit damage.

This scaling makes it deal about the same as Electrocute early game if you hit all 3 attacks before Hail of Blade expires but with a bit better scaling into late game as the ratios are per hit.

I would like to know what others think about this change and if you believe that it would make Hail of Blades more desirable for more than just a couple champions.

Hail of Blades is better when you need immediate power, short, bursty trades. Bard for example is PERFECT for this keystone. You want to get a few quick autos off and get rid of your Meeps, so you get a massive AS boost to throw them out, then back off quickly. If they added some form of direct damage to this keystone they would have to give it a cooldown, which isn't really good for it.

It being niche is perfectly fine. Not everything has to be desirable by everybody. I hope we get to see a fourth keystone added for the other trees as well.

I don't think you should add base damage, but I think that AD and AP scaling would be good.
