You shouldn't be able to ban a champion that someone on your team has shadow-picked.

Personally, when I go into champ select and I queue up for a lane, I have one specific champion that I want to play as. Too many times I've had to dodge a game because someone doesn't want me to play, for instance, Gragas mid in a normals, or Evelynn jungle. I then have to wait 5 minutes to play the next game, and the person who banned the champ I wanted to play gets no repercussion.

This is not desirable, as not only is it unreportable, but more importantly it puts the power of who you get to play into another person's hand.

In order for situations for this to not happen, I recommend that you shouldn't be able to ban champions that someone has shadow picked. No one on your own team should be able to have the power to deny the champion you want to play. Even if the champion someone wishes to play is overpowered in your opinion, and the other team might take it before your own team can, you still shouldn't be able to ban the champion. This is because for every time the overpowered champion gets picked on the other team before your own, there's a time where your team picks it before the other team.

I could simply not shadow pick the champion I wish to play, but that could lead to someone on my team accidentally banning it, and it also shows that communication is not a priority during picking phase, which is counter-intuitive; shadow-picking was designed specifically to be able to create team compositions.

TL;DR: Shouldn't be able to ban a shadow-pick, as it puts the power of which champ someone wants to play into the banner's hands, and not the player's.

Thanks for reading.

Actually, people should be allowed to ban any champion they want.

Why shouldn't people be able to play any champ they want, but people should be allowed to ban any champ they want?

I ask this, because it is a lot easier to learn how to play against a champ than it is to learn how to play a champ you can't play... because it's banned. You see what I'm saying? Someone can deal with having an op champ on the other team, but you can't do anything about not being able to play the champ you wanted to, besides choosing another champion. And if I want to play Gragas mid and someone bans it from me, I get annoyed, and I can't fix that in game by getting better.

Gah, one of these types.

Sorry, not gonna let a last pick Zed mid take the risk of getting Zed taken before he does. Not allowing players to ban pre-selected champions would make it so that the enemy team can potentially pick an OP champ if they're higher in the pick order.

There's nothing you can do about intentional ban trolls. I find it hard to believe that you have only ONE champion that you'd be willing to play, but if that's the case, suck it up and find a second champ you enjoy playing for that lane.

If you look at who I play, you can see that there's no correlation between what lane/what champ. I check what champs are free/available, and I base what I want to do off of that.

And why are you saying I should "Suck it up"?

Free/available? So this is unranked draft, in which you shouldn't be so hurt, its normals. You want to practice a champ, go to blind pick.

I like to practice the champ in the lane specified for it, so I choose draft pick.

Draft is a mistake if you want to practice, and you also take it much too seriously as its normals. You literally read one quarter of what I said.

First of all, you need to deal better with your chosen champion being banned. Dodging is not the mature solution. Learn a wide variety of champions so that you always have options. Secondly, unless your team is very deliberately trolling you, and you haven't picked one of the FOTM/Super OP champs, there's really small odds that you're going to get your champ banned by coincidence. If you pick, say, Zed mid or Blitzcrank support, yeah, you'll almost always get banned by even your own team, because no one wants to chance going against them if you don't have first pick. Shadow picking is merely a suggestion anyway, not really an absolute. So if you shadow pick Zed, and you're at the bottom, that means that you've denied your team a chance to eliminate a nasty pick that an opponent will most likely exploit. So yeah, shadow picks should always be bannable options.

Dodging is not the mature solution.

Why not? Is it immature to want to play specific champions?

YumScrumptious962 votes

Just because you can't play one specific champion you have to exit the game. Yes it is immature.

If it is immature why does riot allow it?

They have it as an out, but it's not something they condone. You're still punished in a sense because you get dumped into queues with other dodgers if you make a repeated habit of dodging. Think of it as the "special class" for delinquent students.

nnavann1 votes

That's actually not true; there is only a group for people who leave games, not people who dodge queue.

YumScrumptious961 votes

There is still punishment for it in the form of queue wait timers. So Riot clearly doesn't condone it being used like you use it for.

Disagree. If someone shows they want to play Teemo ADC you better believe i'm banning Teemo.
