"Elo Hell"

Hi All,

For the first time in forever I've dropped down to B5 and its super disappointing. But honestly I feel like I'm so much better! Maybe not silver or gold but at least a higher tier of bronze. I've improved a lot from learning and playing ranked and I think it's way more fun than normals due to how competitive it is. The past like 20 games my win ratio dropped to like 20% but I've been playing pretty decent, getting farm, getting objectives, getting kills and ofc. not feeding. I know it's kinda cheap to blame it on my teams but seriously I feel like I always get matched up with the absolute worst teams. And it sucks because it's never the other team that sucks, it has to be my team.

But I'm not going to boast or anything, I want advice. I want to know if I'm the problem or if I just keep getting unlucky with teams.

Stats aren't everything but I guess it's all I can show you. My Syndra games are in normals.

So am I the problem and should I take a break from ranked? Or am I just getting REALLY unlucky. Or is it something else?

Constructive criticism please I'm only bronze aiming to get out of it at this point.

If you're hoping to claw your way out of bronze, you're wasting your time. Speaking from personal experience, Elo hell is absolutely real and OCE is the WORST server (largely because Riot OCE disabled Normal Draft mode, the useless bastards, so every fresh noob to hit level 30 has to get their first experience of draft play in Ranked queue). You're never gonna get out of bronze unless your luck is good enough, and yours probably isn't. Mine isn't either.

Take my advice and stop giving a shit- just play however and whatever you like and if you lose, fuck it. Hell, by telling my team to fuck off because I'm playing whatever I damn well like, I've found that I'm so far unbeaten on Bard support, even though he's supposed to be one of the WORST champions to play in bronze solo queue!

If you want practical advice, you need to ward more when you're not support. You're averaging about 6 wards per game in 20-30 minute games when you're mid. Even if you're just using your Warding Totem on CD (you should upgrade that to Greater Stealth Totem btw, it's only 250g and more than DOUBLES its effectiveness) you should be getting more wards down than that. At least you're buying vision wards, which is more than I can say for 99% of players in bronze (not an exaggeration).

Also, so far you're EXCLUSIVELY playing mid and support. You need to learn more roles, so you're both ready to deal with them when you're forced into them, and so you understand what happens in those roles and what you need to do to support your team and interfere with the enemy. You need a greater understanding of the entire game of LoL, not just the lane you're fighting in.

I would disagree with learning other roles. You can be perfectly fine only playing mid and support. Infact getting really good at a few champs is the easiest way to advance. Play this one champ in top/mid/sup or even "ADC". The level of play in bronze is such that you can play any champ in any role and win easy. Jungle is the only role that is sort of tricky and even with great mechanics you can do more bad then good if you are inexperienced.

I agree with warding. You should ward a lot more. Remembering to use the free ward is a start. The next step is spending 250g and having 3 wards out all the time. I would suggest upgrading the trinket at level 9. It should be a priority item.
