The Art of League: When is it appropriate to split push when on defense (losing)?

Hopefully, this will be a discussion and not a flame war.

I'm of the opinion that there are very few situations where split pushing with inhibs down will be helpful, especially since behind usually means their teamfight is better than yours (so you don't want the 4v5).

What do you guys think? Too many variables? Grouping up for defense better?

Generally speaking.. if you have an inhib down you've probably lost it cause you lost a team fight, or someone got caught out, or both. I don't think split pushing is the answer here. Hold turrets. Turtle. They aren't likely to win a team fight under turrets and if they do it's pretty well GG. Clear waves as they come but stay under turrets until the enemy makes a mistake. Rinse, repeat, until your team catches up.

I usually just AFK split as Nasus when my typically garbage team has fed extremely hard. It ends up getting me reported quite often, but creating pressure and sometimes taking an inhib does alot more than recalling into a super fed team and dying anyway.
