I just finished leveling a new account the past few days, and I hopped into rank when I hit 30. In the past, when I would go 10-0 in Placements I would get Plat. If I got 9-1 or 8-2 I would get Gold 1 or Gold 3. Today, I just finished going 7-1 in my Placements, half the games in Gold MMR against Gold players, and I am placed in Bronze 3.

Why is the new system placing you almost 2 entire ranks below your MMR? My MMR is clearly in Gold, I am playing against mostly Gold players, but I am placed in Bronze 3. It feels really shitty to know that I am now going to have to grind through Bronze and Silver, while playing against Gold and eventually Plat players. This feels really shitty honestly, and I don't understand why Bronze 3 is where I am placed after going almost perfect in placements. Feels like Riot is just creating an artificial grind (I know it already is), but this is absurd. Is this a bug, or an error in the system? Feels really shitty to deal with this grind ahead of me, that I shouldn't have to deal with.

You'll start ranked in iron IV on a new account. If your MMR is higher than your rank you should get more LP and you can skip divisions.

But why start in Iron 4? Even if you go 8-0 in Placements, it appears the highest you can get ranked is Bronze 2. EVEN THOUGH YOU WILL HAVE GOLD MMR. Now, when I am climbing through Bronze and Silver, I am going to have to play against Gold and Plat players, while your average Bronze player gets to climb through Bronze playing against Bronze players. You see the problem? The system is complete bullshit and getting placed so low is an artificial and totally annoying grind. Amazing to see Riot put so much effort into a Ranked system that is absolutely fake and totally cosmetic. Someone looks at my profile now, I am a Bronze player, EVEN THOUGH I AM ALREADY IN GOLD MMR. What is the point of even creating Ranked leagues when they are no where near an actual reflection of a players skill level?

You get much more LP when you win if your MMR is gold and your rank is bronze, so you naturally climb towards your true rank. It can take up to 80 games to accurately balance a new account.
