I like to play top but when i am against some champions, i just want to kill myself. Can someone tell me wtf is Garen's silence. His silence is worst than any mage. Tanks are not supposed to do enough damage. Garen can be played by anyone and can destroy the game. His ult is also too op for a tank. His ult do a portion of true damage and if you're not a tank, you die in less than 3 second. Even other tanks can't play against him. If Riot could just nerf his silence it would be good. HIS ABILITIES DONT NEED MANA !!! DO YOU KNOW WHAT DOES IT MEAN ? It just mean he can spam q+e again and again and again. They also have a small cooldown and because it's not enough, when you damage him a little bit, HE WILL JUST TAKE BACK HIS HP BECAUSE OF HIS PASSIF. You can't harass him. He is tank, with no cooldown, no mana and can do more damage than assassins. That's what Riot call equality. Please at least, nerf his silence and make him use mana.

Before the Juggernaut update, when Garen was considered to be a little underpowered, his silence actually lasted 2.5 seconds, a full second longer than it does today. Garen is allowed to have such a powerful silence because he has to get into melee range to apply it, which telegraphs it's use quite a bit. The duration was nerfed alongside some other changes to his early game in order to support a higher late game damage output.

Before level 11 Garen's passive is useful, but not exactly strong. It has a decent cooldown, and gives plenty of room for harassment by ranged champions and abilities. After level 11 the goal should not be small trades and harassment, the goal should be baiting out his W and killing him while W is down.

For tanks the goal is to bully him out of lane. Use your superior early game defenses to win trades, and zone him from minions while he is regenerating with his passive. If he goes for minions move to interrupt his passive and trade with him again. You will grow your gold lead, which is very important. If he builds damage he will be easier to bully, and if he builds defense your own base damage will give you the advantage in longer trades. In the latter case save your CC for when he tries to end the trade and back off.

Garen's abilities do not need mana, but have also been balanced around that fact. Garen was released before season 1, and has been balanced around being manaless for just as long. Giving him mana will make him stronger in short fights due to compensation buffs for not being able to continually trade and disengage.

Garen is decent but not particularly strong right now. He has had multiple nerfs to his movement speed since the Juggernaut update, and has gotten easier and easier to kite as a result. If you have any questions that could help you fight him in lane and later on feel free to ask.
