Really.... out of every OP thing, Hecarim's teleport ganks are nerfed....

I'm fairly angry about this nerf to Hecarim. If you want to nerf his mana, damage, heal from his E, by all means go for it, there is a case to be built. But nerfing his synergy with his passive, E, homeguards, and teleport was uncalled for and unnecessary.

First, teleport operates under a 5 minute CD, meaning that it is used sparingly during the course of game.

Second, due to length of games being around 30-40 mins, boots and homeguards have to be rushed first if you want to use more than 4 teleport ganks. Which in itself is a give and take to playing Hecarim this way.

Third, you need appropriate circumstances for a Hecarim teleport gank to work. You need to be in the base to ensure you have the homeguard buff, you need a well placed minion or ward on the map that is OUT OF COMBAT (homeguard buff is lost when you enter combat), and you need a low mobility squishy target (if a Caitlyn is split pushing all alone with no wards, she deserves to die). Moreover, to achieve the full effect, the max damage is usually achieved after 3 seconds of running with E activated, not immediately.

For such a sparingly used tactic, although it can be devastating at times, this is uncalled for. Hecarim players should be lauded with blue ribbons for well timed ganks, rather than sent back to the barn to cry.

hec was getting very high amounts of AD with homegaurds E and his passive, allowing him to nearly one shot enemy adcs while he rams them at 1k+ move speed mid game. your first point isnt valid imo because if you use it just 3 times in a game to instantly nuke somebody in a team fight, you just turned 3 team fights to a 4v5. You may think "oh well thats just 3 kills!" but every kill counts. For your second point, look no further than the highest rated guide for hecarim atm on mobafire ( http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/build/5-10-the-pony-express-in-depth-top-lane-hecarim-guide-421273 ). to simplify, it encourages you to get homeguard on your first back for the sole purpose of pushing an early lead. Not many people expect a 1k+ movespeed horse ganking their lane ~10 minutes into the game before they probably even bought boots. Your third point which was implying that its very hard for hec to pull this due to the circumstance of not being able to TP nearby is invalid imo since he can move between lanes in the time it takes his E to wear off which is irreleveant because you can just have somebody back off for a second to place a ward.

while i agree with the opinion riot should be looking at other things first, this change was still deserved.

1: He gets 15/17.5/20/22.5/25/27.5/30% AD from his bonus movement speed. Late game with a homeguard teleport he gains around 700 bonus movement speed = around 210 extra damage. Homeguards are gone once you enter combat. So that's a one time 210 extra damage that is gone after the initial engage. It is not an excessive amount of damage. Usually, you have to use your whole range of abilities to secure the gank, including a chilling smite and a R. The real strength of the teleport is to catch the enemy unaware.

2: Every kill does matter, but that is a teleport used to secure a kill that maybe could have been used elsewhere for a split push or other objective based decisions. It's give and take.

3: Your point about the highest rated guide only exemplifies the fact that teleport ganks are currently essential to his kit and will kill him as a viable champion.

Every time Hec has seen ranked play, he's been nerfed within 3 months. I've given up on him at this point, as I get frustrated with clears and and gank patterns and then his kit gets nerfed.

That is pretty dumb

hcarim hasn't seen play for a long time, till the houmgourd TP 'cheese' came, aftet that he instanly was nerfed again. This indicates that he was in a fine, or even rather weak state and yet got nerfs just cuase of a single abuse case.

Heca originally was for a malphite level of engage, just with high sustained damage/tankiness rather than massive burst. first his tankiness was hit, then his dps a bit and finally the to high burst of his ult engage. later the early and dps were buffed back, but he stayed a low priority pick, till people started with homeguard tp for the high burst engages.

With this burst nerfed, he will probably drop in popularity and efficency, which would mean he eventually gets the latest nerf to his manacost reverted and once again more focus on beeing a sustained fighter rather than a supprise-butsex onetrick-pony.

and nope, wards wouldn't help a splitpushing cait, homguard hec can cover a noc ult distance within ~3 sec after tp, even if you see him coming, your not gonna get away.

TL;DR: Nerfing the cheese homguard burst is neccesary to keep him overall strong as a champion. If a champ is only viable because of an edgecase abuse, he really does need changes.
