Are you stupid Riot, or are you stupid?

The old GP is way better. Passive: His passive sucks now because it can't be activated by Parrrley. While it does do significantly more damage and cause a speed boost, his chasing ability falls off in that his new passive can no longer slow enemies (old GP could use AA AND Parrrley to slow opponents since his Q triggered his old passive), which means that he is really bad against ranged opponents. Parrrley: Nothing's changed, still good. Remove Scurvy: Nothing's changed, still good. Powder Kegs: Just terrible. It takes 3 seconds to put down a second Keg after the first Keg, what makes it worse is that there is a 3 second delay until you can actually make the Keg explode. That means, the enemy (if the player is smart enough) has 3 seconds to get out of the Keg's range. What's worse is that if the enemy is ranged, they can destroy the Keg safely while getting free gold. Unlike Raise Moral, Keg is rarely useful in teamfights. As stated above, any ranged champion can defuse Kegs with ease. Meanwhile Raise Moral boosts ALL teammate's attack damage by 20 and movement speed by 10% (when maxed out). Cannon Barrage: Holy shit nerfed. Cooldown has been increased from 120 / 110 / 95 seconds to 140 / 130 / 120. Damage has been reduced from 1125 magic damage (maxed damage) to a meager 1025 AP (maxed damage w/o upgrade). Also the slow duration from the ult has been reduced from 1.25 seconds to 0.5 seconds. Also did I mention the fact that you need to actually spend time (like 17 minutes) to farm for your upgraded ult instead of choosing which variation you want to upgrade free of charge like Kha'Zix? WTF Riot? Are you all high when you thought of this shitty rework?

Debateable... But what is NOT debateable is that this new GP is much more engaging and fun to play both as and against.

Has Been Slain2 votes

How is this even remotely debatable? New GP is utter trash.

EffectFX5 votes

Keg's is infinitely more useful then Raise moral, it's not even that hard to use.

Cannon Barrage. Yes his cd was nerfed slightly. But where fuck are you getting these numbers?

Old GP ult stopped doing the damage per cannonball hit back in patch 4.18 (which was last october by the way), and dealt a maximum of 1155 + (140% AP) magic damage (NOT AP DAMAGE, THERE IS NO SUCH THING) to one target at level 3. That's nowhere near 4000 damage (nevermind that old GP ult was impossible to hit every cannon ball on one target barring some ridiculous unlikely exceptions)

The new GP ult deals 1080 + (120%) AP with no upgrades at level 3 ultimate. Buying fire at will adds 540 + (60% AP). So now it's 1620 + (180% AP). Throw in Death's Daughter? Adds an additional 270 + (30% AP). So now his ult scales to 1890 + (210% AP).

The numbers are on the same site you keep linking to him. If you look at the background section of the LoL wiki it even lists his old ult numbers.

still doesn't change the fact that these numbers are correct, except for the Cannon Barrage CD which was 125 / 110 / 95 seconds which is STILL better than the new Cannon Barrage.

They're not correct though, like I said the LoLWiki actually lists the amount of damage that his ult did before the rework and it was 1155 (+ 140% AP). The numbers on Gamepedia cannot be compared to his current ult because they're from when his ultimate worked very differently. You never hit those numbers, ever.

If you want to make a thread complaining about your main being ruined then at least act like you've played them. You have a problem with the rework making his ult do less damage but you're comparing it to an amount of damage it hasn't done for a very long time.

I'll grant you that the cooldown is quite a bit higher than it once was which is a really random nerf but the damage has hardly changed and after one upgrade (if you choose either of the damagey ones), will be quite a bit higher.

Has Been Slain1 votes

Base damage per cannonball increased to 75 / 120 / 165 from 65 / 110 / 155. Wtf are you talking about? It was clearly stated on the LoL wiki.

And you assume GP is my main? Where did you even get that assumption?

EffectFX2 votes

That's hilarious. Gamepedia was never updated to include the fact that his ult stopped dropping individual cannonballs back last october in patch 4.18 (which is funny because they updated the patch notes linked).

Nevermind that when it did drop individual cannonballs it was literally impossible for all 25 cannonballs to hit one target. Hell it was extremely unlikely to get more then half on a target. There's youtube videos of people walking through it and not taking damage from one side to the other.

http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Gangplank/Background Scroll to patch notes there's a "Previous Abilities" with Hide/Show buttons. Ding ding ding.

Has Been Slain1 votes

Even if the old ult hit you 10 times (25 times maximum cannonballs, so not even half), it does 1650 magic damage That's more damage than the entire duration of the new ult with the Fire at Will upgrade.

EffectFX1 votes

His ult stopped dropping cannonballs BACK IN OCTOBER. IT then started dealing waves of consistently RELIABLE damage to EVERY target inside the ultimate. Gambling for damage was and still is stupid.

Has Been Slain1 votes

Okay, I'll admit that I was wrong, but it still doesn't change the fact that you need to farm up for your upgraded ult. And the fact that his upgradeless ult is garbage compared to his old ult. And that the ult isn't the only bad change.

Bârd1 votes

If you farm correctly, you get upgrades around minutes 17, 25, and 35.

It is hard to get serpents early, just because pre-level 7 you have to wait 4 seconds to pop a Keg. Once you hit level 7 and have sheen, it becomes pretty easy. Once you have level 13 and Triforce+IE, minion waves do not exist anymore.

Has Been Slain1 votes

17 minutes is way too long to get an upgrade.

Bârd1 votes

The upgrades are not really vital. He isnt kha.

Centuros4 votes

Pretty sure you can put out kegs almost as fast as they land, no 3 second delay. Also, Kegs allow you to Parrley the entire enemy team at once (or an entire minion wave).

And as for his ult: "if all cannonballs hit"? Yeah, I'd LOVE to see that ever happen.

I wasn't aware that Parrley didn't proc his passive. It definitely SHOULD, given that it counts as an autoattack...

ModWulf Helhammer1 votes

It's specifically stated that Parrley doesn't proc his passive, probably due to it dealing true damage over time now

Has Been Slain1 votes

Would you stand in Keg range for 3 seconds? If not, then it wouldn't matter if GP can Parrrley his own Keg or not. If yes you would stand in Keg range for 3 seconds then idk what to tell you.

Even if the old ult hit you 10 times (25 times maximum cannonballs, so not even half), it does 1650 AP. That's more damage than the entire duration of the new ult with the Fire at Will upgrade.

EffectFX1 votes

It doesn't take 3 seconds for them to tic down. There are also numerous ways to proc a keg right as you throw it down.

And no, the new ult doesn't get outdamaged by the old one. The stats are literally posted on the league wikia.

Has Been Slain1 votes

old GP info: http://lol.gamepedia.com/Gangplank_-_The_Saltwater_Scourge new GP info: http://leagueoflegends.wikia.com/wiki/Gangplank

Now do the math on the ult and tell me that his new ult outdamages his old one.

Also for the numerous ways to proc a Keg, AA Keg to proc it sooner? Nah, not likely, trading AA for an early tic for barrel proc is dumb. Have your teammates proc it sooner for you? Highly unlikely and unreliable. So tell me, what is an efficient way for you to proc a Keg early?

Meanwhile Raise Moral maxed out, gives a total of 100 AD to your team along with a total of 50% movement speed if all members are within range. Now tell me, how is Keg more useful than Raise Moral?

EffectFX1 votes

Yes, numerous ways to proc kegs. I can't believe I actually have to explain this. Keg's are procced off 3 things. Autoattacks, Parrley, and OTHER kegs. There are numerous ways to be sneaky with your kegs with parrley and preplaced kegs.

Raise moral was borderline the single most worthless spell in the entire game. Kegs are only unreliable as fuck if you don't know how to use them. Not every champion uses AD and the individual AD gain per character was meh at best.

Has Been Slain1 votes

LOL, that's pretty funny. "Sneak" your Kegs and get chains off of them. Try "sneaking" a barrel in front of enemies during a team fight and let's see how well that turns out for you.

Also, clearly a bonus 20 AD to each teammate and 10% movement speed increase is ONLY "meh" at best. I don't know if you're serious or you're just trying to troll.

EffectFX1 votes

Ahhh I see you're problem, you think it's an initiation ability rather then a follow up or ambush ability. No wonder you're struggling with it.

Yes it's meh. It's pretty weak as a skill.

Has Been Slain1 votes

If you want to ambush why the fuck would you chain your Kegs? Obviously when you ambush you want to get as close to them as possible so that you can proc your passive on them, why would you want to chain your Kegs? I repeat, if you want to ambush, why would you want to chain your Kegs? Let me repeat that one more time so that you can understand how stupid you sound, if you want to ambush somebody, why would you want to chain your Kegs from afar when you want to proc your big damage passive onto them????

EffectFX1 votes
  1. Because depending on what stage of the game you're in (game duration if that was to hard for you), how you're built (based on item choices and how much gold you have), and the enemy team's composition. Maybe being face first with the enemy team isn't 100% the best idea. Maybe you have someone on your team that can initiate and then you walk up and start hitting who you want to kill while not being immediately targeted because either a squishy build or a lots of high damage AOE retaliation from the enemy team. Now SURE if it's one or two enemies you know you can take, then yeah chaining probably isn't necessary.

  2. Chaining your barrels allows you to expand the size of the AOE, if the enemy team isn't grouped up enough be hit by one barrel, then DING DING DING you DROP a keg in the middle of their team and immediately parrrley the preplaced barrel chaining it into the enemy team.

Has Been Slain1 votes

All your examples are so situational and unreliable.

So here's some situational and unreliable counter arguments that's as far fetched as yours.

  1. Maybe you're the only initiator

  2. If the enemy is rushing you so you don't have time to place those Kegs.

WOW, "DING DING DING," what will happen now?

EffectFX1 votes

False.

  1. Gangplank is and always has been very poor initiator compared to several champions. Building tanky is not the same thing as being a champion with strong initiation.

  2. You have time to place kegs. It takes 1 second for a keg at level 13 to go from 3 health to 1

Has Been Slain1 votes

False.

  1. You're the only initiator on the team.

  2. The enemies are too spread out and it takes too long to place Kegs.

"Ding Ding Ding".

EffectFX1 votes

No. they're only unreliable if you're kinda bad.

  1. Then you and you're team have made poor decisions in champion select. That's not GP's fault. That's like complaining your team has poor initiation because you choose 5 champions with exceptionally bad hard engage.

  2. You can drop 2 kegs in under a second and they have pretty good range for deployment.

Has Been Slain1 votes

No. If you think his Kegs are good then you're kinda bad.

  1. If you have been playing league for a while you would know that nobody gives a shit about team synergy.

  2. You can drop 2 kegs in under a second meanwhile the enemy defuse your first Keg with a ranged AA under a second.

"DING DING DING"

EffectFX1 votes

Better then raise moral.

  1. Irrelevant

  2. So drop one out of range then drop one in range and shoot the first one. Not rocket science. And get this you can drop a 3rd down after shooting the first barrel and it will proc off the 2nd barrel exploding granting an even further chain. That's a little closer to rocket science (but still not).

Just played GP, kegs worked fine.

BeatzBoyFTW3 votes

When people are complaining about champs that weren't suited for them, yet still complains like they know-it-all.

This is like the Sion rework crap all over again. They point out what's wrong with the power change between the old & new, and few days/weeks later, they are guaranteed to shut up since they'll get used to it.

stealthfox942 votes

Old GP was super linear.

Bârd2 votes

Ok.

Old passive was aight. New passive causes him to obliterate the enemy lategame, and makes farming easier. The change to W makes a tanky GP more viable. The Kegs are only bad if you suck with them. You put one down next to you, where they cant hit it, and then when its ready (Between 4 seconds and 1 second later, depending on GP's level), you can hit them with a chain explosion, and with a maximum of 5 kegs held at once, you can set up rediculously long chains instantly, as there is no cooldown between placing them. Ranged champs CAN destroy them easily, but that is one more thing GP has to account for when timing Parrrley. In any case, dealing your AD plus 320 plus triforce in an AOE ignoring 60% their armor with the possibility of Crits is MUCH more powerful than +20 ad and 10% movespeed to nearby allies.

Old cannon barrage dealt 165 magic damage per second for 7 seconds in the area. The number you are using was from back when the cannonballs were random. All I can conclude from THAT, is that you havent played GP since patch 4.18, and such have no grounds to complain about changes you percieve as nerfs, as you did not play him.

Has Been Slain1 votes

New passive only works if you're in melee range unlike old passive, thus making it garbage during a team fight. Also new passive has a 16 second CD. Kegs are terrible. You're only thinking linearly where the enemies are as dumb as you who stands in range of a Keg. Even if you try to chain the Kegs, the fact that the enemy can actually move around (woah pretty crazy for your brain to comprehend huh?) makes it extremely hard and unreliable to actually get enough range for the chain effect to go off.

Bârd2 votes

If you cannot find a way to land a single melee attack in a teamfight, on a champion as fast as GP (Popping a barrel turns you into sonic), there is a problem here. Level 13, 1 second delay from placing a barrel to blowing it up. Lead your target.

YEp. thanks riot for ruining my favorite character. it's the end of league as we know it. league of "minigames" and ZOMG PHAT PLAYZ starting.

IF they wanted to make donkeykong a character with this stupid barrel crap they could have made a new one instead of steamrolling over an old one.

lol anyone downvoting "well they didn't ruin MY favorite character haha loser, new GP so engaging now brah i played him like 2 times before his rework then tried him out once after rework and deem him worthy and a great rework!" everyone who likes him didn't really play him before. so they don't care that he was ruined.
