Spellthief's buff is a complete joke

"Remember how we just said Coin users will have to walk up to the minion wave more frequently? Go punish them for it."

Is this your advice now, Riot? Punish them? Your solution to the problem of Ancient Coin being the highest income support item is to buff Spellthief's by 5 whole AP and give the most demeaning advice to your playerbase you possibly can? I'm sure that there were literally zero people before today who thought to punish people going Coin by playing aggressive. You just have to force them off the coin for the twenty fucking seconds they last for, and their generous pickup radius as if they didn't have enough of a window to pick it up.

Just punish them.

Weather or not you take coin vs spellthief's blade is dependent on your personal preference for whatever hero you're playing and the situation. For Soraka, Sona, or Lulu I go 50/50 on which I take depending on how independent my lane partner is. If my lane partner is Twitch (for example) the coin is probably better because I'll get more gold faster and mana won't be as much of an issue, because Twitch can basically take care of himself if you ward properly and heal/shield/whatever when he does something stupid. If I'm going to be taking care of Jinx or someone else equally squishy, then the dagger and it's stats are better.

If I play Zyra I always want the dagger. If I ever played Xerath, or Velkoz as support I imagine I'd want the dagger too. Because your goal as those heroes is to scare the crap out of the enemy so your ADC can freefarm. If our team screwed the pooch on comp, someone AFK, etc. and I have to lane alone, then you go coin so you won't lose as much from not being able to cs as fast. Unless you're Soraka, who can spam AOE and therefore has no issue csing large minion waves.

So they buffed Spell Thiefs Edge by giving it an increase of 108.75 gold in stats. This takes it from being 66.79% gold efficiency to a 97.86% gold efficiency out the gate not calculating the passive. Sounds damn good to me bro.

Punish them isn't that reliable.

Janna? E + Q Sona? Is a harass support Nami? Is a harass support Lulu? Is a harass support Karma? Is a harass support Soraka? Q + E Taric? Yeah you can probably get some good hits on him Rakan? Yeah he's pretty weak early as well

Buff Relic Shield so it gives constant gold rather than being dependent on minions Buff Spell Thief's Edge's mana regeneration as well? 10AP is actually a pretty good! Doran's Ring gives 15ap.

I don't think it's enough to beat out coin though.
